Playing Big Basics
So.. I wake up, eat breakfast(you guessed it, my usual, peanut butter sandwich.) Sam gets here around 8:55 and we leave at 9 to go pick up Jordan. We get to the place where the tourney is at around 10(right when reg. started.) I play some fun games with some team mates and then we get started.
Sorry, no list this time guys. : (
Round 1: Kyle M w/ Eggsecutor
Kyle only showed up to have fun and he knew I was probably going to win.
So yeah, it was a really easy game, and I move to 1-0
1-0
Round 2: Gregory S w/ Zekrom/Eel
We both set up kind of well(with the exception of him not getting an eel til like turn 10 or 15 lol.) Overall, it came one-to-one in 30+3, and I won because I top decked a catcher. GG
2-0
Round 3: Justin M. w/Donphan/Machamp/Vileplume
Yeah. I knew coming in this was going to be tough because Big Basics doesn’t get along too well with Vileplume. So yeah, all I remember about this game was that I got like 120 damage on a Machamp and he Fighting Tagged to another one followed by a Seeker to get rid of all of the damage. I lost pretty hard. GG
2-1
Round 4: Greg S w/ Chandelure/Vileplume
Yep. Another Trainer lock… I lost hard. GG
2-2
Round 5: ??? w/ Reshiphlosion
He got a lot of basics out early, but no more than 2 energies. So I preceded to catcher up cyndaquils and volpixes and KOing them with Leaf Wallop. GG
3-2
Round 6: Andrew R. w/ D&D
Now at this point, I obviously know I need to win to get in Top 8. He was 4-1 at the time, so if I beat the up-pair, I should definitely be in cut. So he gets a really bad start and I roll him with Virizion. GG
4-2
So the standings come out and I make 5th.
So the Top 8 looks like this:
1. Justin M w/ Donphan/Machamp/Vileplume
2. Brad G. w/ google/Kyurem
3. Alex H. w/Zekrom/Eel(I think)
4. Jordan P. w/ Big Basics
5. Dylan D. w/ Big Basics
6. Gregory S. w/ Zekrom/Eel
7. Greg S. w/ Chandelure
8. Anita M. w/ Vanilluxe
Top 8: Jordan P. w/ Big Basics
Wow.. first of all, why did the only 2 Big Basics in the tournament have to get paired up in Top 8? Second, why did it have to be my Teammate/Neighbor/Friend lol? Anyway here we go:
Game 1:
He gets a much better start than me and wins fairly easily. GG
0-1
Game 2:
I get to go first and get a good setup and get the win.GG
1-1
Game 3:
This one came down to Sudden Death because of time running out in Game 2.
We flip the coin, I go first, and start Virizion and energy. I get a much better setup and I get the win.
Great games Jordan,
2-1
Top 4: Justin M. w/Donphan/Machamp/Vileplume.
Game 1:
He really gets a hot start and I draw dead after using all 4 of my PONT’s in the first 4 turns. Lol. GG
0-1
Game 2:
I get setup really well and I didn’t see a Twins out of him the entire game.
GG
1-1
Game 3:
Again, he gets no Twins or Vileplumes and I proceed to win with my Trainer using awesomeness lol. GG
2-1
Side note: He broke a sleeve during Game one and didn’t have extras so the judges had to come over and help him resleeve with prerelease sleeves. Lol.
Top 2: Gregory S. w/ Zekrom/Eel
Game 1:
He really got a better start than me and just rolled me.
0-1
Game 2:
I got set up really quickly and took full advantage of Terrakion. I believe it was this game that when it was 2-1 Prizes in my favor, I promoted a benched Shaymin and let him kill it. I then preceded to Super rod my Terrakion, fighting, and shaymin back into the deck and juniper to draw the rest of my deck. I then attached the fighting to Terrakion, shaymin’ed a grass to it and switched to do Retaliate on his Zekrom for KO. GG
1-1
Game 3:
We both setup fairly well. However, in the end I win because of my Top decking powers grabbing me a catcher when I needed it most. GG
2-1
So I win my first Cities ever! This puts me to 18 champ points. Woohoo, here I come Hawaii! : ) lol…
Props:
Winning (duh)
Opening a FA Victini and a FA Terrakion
Fun car rides to and from
Winning
Slops:
Sam getting bubbled out of cut : (
The place where we were playing being A. Really cold and B. having no cell phone service.
The Pizza place that was right upstairs having REALLY terrible pizza.
Nothing else I can think of..
