Hi Pokebeach people! it's been a while since I was last here but thought I'd share what we've been testing at League for the past year and have been discussing over on 6 Prizes. Do you miss all your rotated decks? Sick of the "play a huge Basic and apply energy" Modified? This might be for you!
This is an Unlimited format (all sets are legal) using a 100 card singleton deck and a specific ban / ex list to make it fun and fair for people with both old and new card collections. The focus of the format is fun, casual play probably best suited for advanced players. Don't be intimidated by the deck size, they come together easily once you find your theme, think of it as the ultimate Toolbox style deck. Here's a sample list http://www.pokebeach.com/forums/thread-tyranitar-150-100-card-singleton
The official page is still on Facebook as Pokemon TCG 150 ( https://www.facebook.com/pages/Pokem...31210296918627 ) but we'll have a new site soon and the full rules are posted below. The Basic Rules and Gameplay are simple enough, then the more complex stuff comes in the Errata and Balance section. Hope you enjoy trying this format and would like to see what decklists you come up with and to hear any feedback you have. Good luck and remember... have fun!
BASIC RULES.
* 150 is an alternative format for casual play. Almost any card, from any set, in any language is legal.
* This format uses a 100 card deck, which can only contain 1 copy of any card, excluding basic energy which are unlimited. The usual restriction of a maximum of 4 for a type of Pokémon applies, e.g. your deck can contain 4 Bulbasaur but they must be from different sets (and not just reprints / alternate art).
GAMEPLAY.
* (For 8 prize games) Start by drawing 15 cards from your deck, select 8, shuffle them and place them face down as prize cards. The remaining 7 are your hand. From here set up as normal (We recommend pre-B&W rules e.g. no Trainers can be played if you go first).
* For the purposes of evolving and levelling up only, the exact name of the Pokémon doesn't matter. Things such as a trainers name or dark are ignored, e.g. Erika’s Oddish > Dark Gloom > Vileplume is a legal evolution line. If you level-up an "ex" it will still yield one extra prize.
ERRATA / BALANCE.
* Pokémon ex still yield 2 prizes when KO'd. Pokémon "Prime" and B&W series Holo Rares (striped foil) also count as Pokémon ex. Pokémon "LV.X" and Pokémon "Legend" are treated as normal. The new Pokémon "EX" are banned
* Abilities and Pokémon Powers are split into Poke-Powers and Poké-bodies in order to interact with other cards correctly. If it requires activating (uses "you may") it's a Poke-Power, otherwise it's a Poke-Body. If a card mentions Abilities or Pokémon Powers (eg. "all Pokémon Powers stop working...") this covers Poke-Powers and Poké-bodies.
* The most recent type of fossils are used for each Pokémon and 4 Mysterious Fossils can also be used to evolve any fossil Pokémon. For any other fossil cards (Holon Fossil, Buried Fossil etc.), only 1 of each can be used.
* All Japanese "VS" cards count as Pokémon SP. Pokémon SP are an exception to the evolution rule above and are treated as completely different Pokémon and can never evolve or level up into other versions of that Pokémon line.
* Eviolite is banned.
(To the Mods, although this is "Unlimited" discussion I didn't think this is New Players Plaza material, please move it if this isn't the right place though, thanks.)
