Below is a deck my son (Jnr) is currently playing, with the aim of going to Sheffield (UK) regionals in June.
Appreciate any thoughts on additions/changes to make it more consistent.

4 Ralts
3 Kirlia
3 Gardevoir GX
2 Gallade (to target Zoroark GX)
1 Lele
1 Alolan Vulpix
1 Oranguru

4 Ultra Ball
1 Brigette
4 Rare Candy
4 N
4 Cynthia
1 Sycamore
3 Guzma

1 Super Rod
2 Choice Band
2 Field Blower
1 Town Map (he really likes this so not sure that can remove!)

8 Fairy energy
4 DCE

54 cards

Others (have):
Skyla, +1 Alolan Vulpix, +1 Oranguru, Parallel City, Rescue Stretcher, Acerola, Max Potion.

Others (don’t have/future):
Pal Pad, Xerneas GX, Eneporter, Lady, Diantha

Not wanting to splash out (particularly pre SUM), so no +1/2 Lele, Zoroark GX line, etc.

Thanks.

I would add another Brigette or 2 since your not using much Lele's. The plan is to use it first turn every game right.

Now, to be fair, if you're spending money on travelling to and playing in a regional, you really should consider spending the money on your son's deck so he isn't handicapped to other players. I'm particularly talking about at least a second Tapu Lele-GX, since Gardevoir really needs the first turn Brigette. Otherwise, Brigette becomes a dead card for the rest of the game. Diantha will likely be a 2-3 of in Gardevoir because of how purely strong the card is, being able to grab combination pieces like Double Colorless Energy(DCE)+Rare Candy, DCE+Gardy, Candy+Gardy, you get the point. And Lele also makes those easier to grab. Generally, players stopped using Alolan Vulpix because you would rather draw cards and get set up instead of handing your opponent a prize card and risk being N'd out of those Pokemon. And Octillery is a staple in Gardevoir over Oranguru because it has the better Ability, and being a stage 1 doesn't matter since your main attacker is a stage 2 that will take time to set up either way, so Octillery will actually be faster as a stage 1 than Oranguru. Plus, you will have turns where you can't Instruct because you only have certain combo pieces like stage 2s, Rare Candy, etc. And not have the other piece, making your hand unplayable. Oranguru works best in decks that can use almost every card in the deck the moment it's in their hand, making it easier to go down below 3 cards, which is something Gardevoir doesn't really do.
It probably is a good idea to throw in 2-3 Max Potion to keep beefy Gardevoirs alive, and Parallel City is a good stadium option. Float Stone is something that makes it so you don't have to spend Energy retreating something your opponent Guzma'd up, or a bad starter. Just 1 can work wonders.

gumball, thanks for the reply and normally I'd agree with the comments, but let me shed some more light.

My son is not playing a lot (at all). He has had an urge to go to a Regional for a while (last year a Junior from our local League went to Liverpool with an average deck and finished roughly half way), so my son thinks he can just turn up and do reasonably well. I've told him that he has to practice otherwise we won't go.

Sheffield (UK) is 1 hour away for us so the only cost is a small amount on fuel and we're not staying overnight.
As he doesn't play much then I'm reluctant to spend any money on cards aside from ones we may get fairly cheaply (e.g. Pal Pad and hopefully Diantha).

I take your point on Garde staples and Lele, and if he was playing a lot and likely to do more Regionals and Internationals then I would invest time and money at that point. He may do the Regional and want to do a lot more.

Roblo, I will look at another Brigette. Appreciate though that more Lele is the best option all round.
gumball, I will look at Diantha, Max Potion (would do +1 Super Rod I think to get the energy back), and dropping Vulpix.

Do you think Xerneas GX may be a replacement starter slash later GX attacker?

Thanks.

Ooohhh. Okay, I completely understand now.

And Xerneas GX doesn't do enough as any sort of an attacker to warrant any good results, especially because it gives up 2 prize cards.
