So, this is my brief take on my battles today at Cities. I ran my test deck of Jumpluff and Yanmega Prime. Sure, they sound like a silly idea, but the 0 retreat cost and 0-1 energy cost was highly appealing to me. I was also quite distraught because of cards like Umbreon and Machamp, so that's how I ended with this deck. Anyway, the run down from what I can remember...
Round 1: DialgaChomp with a side of Luxray
Winner: Me
Safe to say, the both of us got a horrible start. I started with Hoppip alone (as this was my curse for all matches after) and he started with Sableye. I managed to draw a Sableye of my own and started spamming Impersonate. For about 4 to 5 turns each we were both setting up/stalling with Sableye, which issued an incredible Judge war. He caved and decided to attack with Garchomp C Lv. X to take out Sableye (I had at some point played BTS and took away all the damage from Crobat G's Flash Bite with Seeker from one Jumpluff), which led me to using Twins for Yanma and Yanmega prime. After that, I had 3 Jumpluff, 2 Yanmega prime, and Sunflora (I had two originally through the Judge war, which is how I setup up my Pokemon, but I used a Seeker to get rid of it and bring out the Jumpluff line that was in my hand) in my next turn. His side had Dialga G, 2 Crobat G, Luxray GL, Sableye, and Garchomp C Lv. X. Thanks to a full bench, Garchomp C got knocked out by Jumpluff, and the next few Pokemon he sent had 70 HP, so I switched to Yanmega and used Judge/Copycat for free attacks. Apparently our stalling took a while because in the end, I had taken four prizes and he had only taken two. If he had one more turn (he finally got truly set up at the very end of the game, I Judged away all his good cards at the start of the game three times), he would have taken two prizes and we would have had sudden death. I was relieved. >.>
Round 2: Mew/Absol Prime
Winner: Me
There is not much to say about this match. It ended in after a few turns. We both had a bad start (Hoppip curse for me), but he started with Absol (as active) and Mew. I went first and all I could do was attack with Hoppip, but thankfully Absol needs two energy to attack. That gave me time to BTS next turn and use Pokemon Collector. I managed to get Yanmega and Jumpluff out that turns and immediately started to go for the kill. I think he managed to knock something out, maybe, but it didn't matter. After he used PONT because he had nothing, my cut apparently screwed him forever. He got no energy or trainers for three turns, so it was all I needed to knock out the rest of his Pokemon. :\
Round 3: Crobat Prime/Dugtrio/Vileplume/Mismagius (UD)
Winner: Me
This match was a very close one. I was very glad for my free retreat, Seekers, and Yanmega Prime's snipe attack. That's is pretty much all I did most of the match. She didn't fill up her bench like my other two opponents did, so I couldn't belt just belt Jumpluff and kill Crobat Prime, so after I would Mass Attack her, she would retreat so she wouldn't get killed, then I would retreat myself, and snipe her Crobat with Yanmega for knock out. It was a lot of rinse and repeat there. Of course, she can snipe me too. At the end, I managed to get all my prizes and she only needed one more to win. D:
Round 4: Machamp/Donphan
Winner: Me
The match was but like five turns, really. He kept most of his Pokemon in his hand so that it wouldn't power up Jumpluff, but his mistake was only keeping one basic down and replacing him when the active got knocked out. The moment I got Seeker, it was game. The few time he did attack, I had used Leaf Guard and I had resistance to fighting. :\
Round 5: Kingdra LA and Prime/Crobat G
Winner: Opponent
This somehow lasted, but I lost pretty miserably. I was finally getting setup up, but like my two previous opponents, he would have a low amount of benched Pokemon. For the most part, he kept only one benched Pokemon, but when I finally got Seeker, he decided to have two (he put Kingdra LA down). It all went downhill for me after. Between Flash Bite and Spray Splash, I lost pretty badly. XD
I fought against all the finalist during my matches and won against them all but the Kingdra player. The DialgaChomp and Crobat players only lost the rounds they played against me and Kingdra went undefeated.
Semi-Final Round: DialgaChomp with a side of Luxray (again)
So I went through the same tedious match with the same person. This time though, he started using Luxray GL Lv. X (he had two in the deck) since he got sick of Yanmega and he noticed all too late during our first match that Yanmega was weak to Electric all along. I managed to win the first match, but I lost my other two. The first match I lost went quicker. My second lost, I could have won, but I screwed up at the very start. For some reason, my mind set was that of playing for 6 prizes, not one (this was a sudden death match), so I used Sunkern as active and Hoppip as bench. He started with Sableye, but thankfully he didn't have dark energy at the time or I would have been donk'd. On my turn, I used Bebe's for Sunflora (because I could) and used Rare Candy on Sunflora, used Sunshine Grace, and got Jumpluff and used my second Rare Candy to evolve it. After, I used Uxie's Setup Up I got the grass energy I needed, but like I said, I was dumb and Sunflora was out. If I hadn't screwed up, the match could have been mine. He used Flash Bite like four times his turn and then attacked for knock out. :\
And that was the end of my adventure. XD
