So in every generation, there's a new gimmick that you need to do in order to catch 'em all:

gen 1: trade to another player
gen 2: level up during a certain time of day (Eevee), trade@a certain item (Slowpoke, Scyther)
gen 3: maximize contest stats (Feebas)
gen 4: gender-specific evolution (Burmy), location-specific evolution (Nosepass, Magneton)
gen 5: trade with a specific Pokemon (Karrablast, Shelmet)
gen 6: your ideas here

You know there's gonna be at least one Pokemon with a new evolution gimmick. Maybe drawing on the touch screen or something?

In The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, there's a part where you find an upside-down version of a map you already have, except this map has a marking on it. To transfer the marking to your own map, you bring the map up and then close the DS to "press" the two maps together, transferring the image. That would be pretty nifty to incorporate.

Maybe utilize AR somehow? Gyro functions? The possibilities are endless, so let's hear em.

There was the "bond" thing of the trailer. Maybe leveling up holding a certain item. There was also from Mantyke to Mantine with a certain Pokemon in your party.

I like the AR idea. Expanding upon it, I was thinking that in the game case, you will get an AR image to scan that will evolve certain Pokemon if they are in your party.

This could go along with the rumored Camera item.

Maybe a split evolution for a Pokemon depending on its ability? (obviously only on 2/3 lines, and each line being elemental counterparts)

Or something like this:
Fighter baby Pokemon:
-level up with Ice Punch in moveset = Fighting/Ice type
-level up with Fire Punch in moveset = Fennekin's evos type Fighting/Fire
-level up with ThunderPunch in moveset = Fighting/Electric
And maybe even have a new feature where you get several moves being learned at once, but only one of these moves actually being learnable.
eg. Pokemon wants to learn Fire Punch, ThunderPunch and Ice Punch, but it looks like it only has the power to utilise one. Which one should Pokemon learn?
And then depending on which is picked it goes through the usual 'which move should be gotten rid of in order to learn Ice Punch?'

I've always thought Castform should get evolutions depending on its form, eg Sun form would make it into a Normal/Fire type, maybe with Drought. Same with Rain forme evolving and getting Drizzle, and Snow form evolving and getting Snow Warning. To keep them from being overpowered, it could be like a Scyther-Scizor evolution where its BST stays the same, but its type changes. (and its not like it keeping Normal is going to be anything big, it means all of them are weak to Fighting, double weakness in Snow forms case).
(and while they're at it, they need to give Castform a Sand form)

Bonding being an evolution cause is very probable, given that they like to show Pokemon off that utilise new features, with them usually evolving through said feature (night&day, seasons, etc.). Infact, the only feature not to cause evolution is weather iirc, which means the Castform split evos I mentioned earlier could have that gimmick.

There was a Fakemon I saw where the basic was a sick Pokemon, having a cold and a temperature iirc, and if it was traded with Burn Heal it turned into an Ice type that had a huge cold but no temperature, and if traded with Ice Heal it had a huge temperature, but no cold. (even though item evolutions have been seen before, I love the basis for this Pokemon)

Also, Sylveon is pratically guaranteed to have a new evolution gimmick, all Eeveelutions have had ones that have been introduced in their respective gens.
My prediction:
Eevee + high Bonds with trainer (+ Fairy item) = Sylveon.
(Fairy item only if Sylveon des turn out to be this Fairy type)

Well, we've had evolution by move, location, level, item (Including held and stones), specific Pokémon in party, specific trade, trade+item, gender, item+gender, happiness and happiness+time of day. (Sorry if I missed any).
The only ones I can think of, is if a Pokémon reaches a specific amount of stats (like Conquest) or getting max EVs.

We already have something close to that too. Tyrogue evolves into one of three pokemon depending on its stats when it reaches the level to evolve (20?).

Why would they incorporate Action Replay? D:
Augmented Reality.

(Are you serious?)

Pretty sure Sylveon evolves by bonding.

Teach the baby fighter Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, and Fire Punch. You have screwed up the world of Pokémon.

The idea I had would be along the lines of:
Pokemon is trying to learn several moves at once, but only has the skill to utilise one.
Pick which out of Fire/Thunder/Ice Punch it should learn.

*it would also be unable to learn them through tutor, egg moves, only by level*

EVs being maxed out would be a really interesting concept to evolve a Pokemon through, maybe have a Pokemon that has split evolutions depending on which stat has 252 EVs first, which would be really interesting. (of course after evolution you could max out other stats). If this EV training facility that was in the insider information is true, could the games be taking a new view with EVs, having them fully visible? If so, a new Pokemon would be prime if it utilises EVs in some way to evolve or change its form.

Correct. Tyrogue evolves into Hitmonchan if it's attack is higher, Hitmonlee, if it's defense is higher, and Hitmontop, if it's special attack/defense or speed is higher (can't remember which).

I meant a specific number (like 200 in attack), not which stat is higher when it can evolve.

hmm... my friend guessed hat there could be 3 new eeveelutions, since Unova was supposed to be the new Kanto, and Kanto had 3. If there are 3, Eevee might evolve depending on happiness and location, or level and location. but, who knows? it might turn out to be based off of the apparently returning contest stats. Sylveon fits with beauty.

Please God, not another Pokemon that evolves based on Contests stats. TT^TT
Milotic was bad enough in Generation III.

Likely not, given that evolving through contest stats isn't really a new thing.

The "bonding system" sounds way more likely. The only thing I'm confused on is how it differs from the earlier friendship mechanic. Is this an active one you have to work to earn, as opposed to the more passive friendship that rises on its own for the most part? They'd better make some substantial difference.

Either that or if the EV facility is going to happen, they might involve EVs in its evolution. Like "get EVs in this or that stat to their max and then it evolves".
