Ruling Genesect Breaker Bazooka discard with Rainbow Energy discard

The BW Promo Genesect has a Breaker Bazooka attack that requires . It has an affect of "Discard all Energy attached to this Pokémon."

I'm wondering how this works with Rainbow Energy. If you have 2 Rainbow Energy and 1 Psychic attached, can I use the attack by making the Rainbow Energy's Leaf, but then on the discard choose them to be something else, losing nothing?

You can't choose what type of Energy Rainbow Energy is providing it any one time. It provides every type of Energy all at once, but only one "unit" of Energy at a time. If your Genesect has Rainbow Energy attached when you use Breaker Bazooka, you will need to discard it, since it's providing Grass Energy. It's always providing every type at once regardless of what step you are in your attack. There's never a time that you can simply choose what type of Energy you're getting.
