Getting Back Into The TCG

Hey I'm starting to think about getting back into the TCG but haven't played since the late 90's early 200's no later than 2001. The last set i played was when the first gym leader set came out when Wizard's of the coast were still making them. I'm wanting to play a eevee deck with leafeon as my main pokemon with umbreon and espeon. My question is what is the best way to get back and make a deck. Buying alot of packs maybe a box of D/P sets and hope to get what i need or buy singles online? Any suggestions would be cool.
 
1.think of some pokes you like and that have combos
2.plan out your deck
3.buy packs and get some offline
4.put together and have fun
 
start looking in the deck garage for deck ideas...then change them to fit what you have...i would suggest buying a box of d/p 1 or legends awakened when it comes out
 
A big thing that I have found when I started back up again (I left at about the same time too and got back into it a few months ago) is that old cards really are not as good as the old ones at all. The cost of energy and trainer cards are much more overpowered so throwing in old cards I thought used to be good into my deck just seemed laughable. The hardest thing for me and the new cards was just getting over it and getting an entirely new set...
 
If you can get a box get one. Try to get D/P,SW,or GE sets. These 2set have some pretty powerful cards in them.:)
 
if Coek wants to make eeveelutions, then why not Majestic Dawn? It has all the eeveelutions and a chance at leafeon or glaceon lv.x
 
Here's what I would do if I were you:

Buy a box of MD, LA, or IFIDS (japanese boxes are more worth it...)
Find a deck and change it for what you have
join a team so you can get more help
