Getting Cards help

Sup people....recently I have decided I want to start playing pokemon tcg again and I have already thought of a deck idea but I want to know a couple things first.....

1. Can I use cards like rare candy that I kept from the ex set since they remade them?

2. Where can I get basic pokemon cards such as totodile or magikarp for a cheap price.


Well um thats it for now, I'll post more questions if I think of any. Also if this post is in the wrong section sorry I'm new to pokebeach.

1) Yes, you can use Rare Candy so long as it is reprinted in a legal set. However, depending on how strict the judges are in your area are, you may need to bring a scan with a pic of the re-printed card. Legal scans can be found on both this site and pokemon.com(more official). Keep in mind, though, that if the Rare Candy re-print has signifigantly different text than the edition you own, then the Rare Candies are no longer similar, and you can't use your Rare Candy, claiming it is a re-print.

1) Even if there are drastic text changes, like in Metal/Darkness Energies, and Claw Fossil, you can still use them with a valid reference card (updated version outside of your deck).

2) The best place to buy commons and stuff is definitely among fellow card enthusiasts! You can often get a better price and you are helping out people to further their own hobbies! Check out PokeBeach and PokeGym selling forums!

Does this mean that I can use the trainer card "bill" from base sat as long as I have a card scan of the trainer card "bill" from the new set?

Yeah, but it's now a supporter and the trainer will count as one in a game. Currently Bill as a supporter is to slow to play in a deck.
