I'm looking for ways to get energy back from the discard pile.  Preferably fire energy if possible.  I know about the following:

Dragonite d = returns lightning energy to benched poke
Camerupt (DX) = first attack returns two
Holon Farmer = returns any three to hand
Mr. Stone's Project = returns any two to hand
Energy Recycle System = returns three basic or one special into deck
Energy Charge = filp coin and return two to deck on heads
Power Tree = return 1 to hand provided no specials in discard

What else am I missing?

Is anyone forgetting the new(old) Blaziken RS reprinted in PK?? It can only get Fire too though.

Pkmaster out.

I think a holon engine would allow holon farmer, or power treem but only if you don't have special energy. Otherwise farmer is the shiz.

Mr. Stone's Project is a good card for retrieving Energy Cards from the discard pile. While Holon Farmer puts the cards back into your deck, Mr. Stone's Project allows you to either search your deck for 2 basic energy cards and put them in your hand, or search your discard pile for 2 basic energies and put them in your hand. Works well, especially if your deck has only a few energy cards. It can't be found with Holon Transceiver, but that doesn't make it a bad card; you don't have to discard anything to play it, and it is guaranteed to work.

Trainer wise I love both Mr. Stones and Holon Farmer. It amazes me that folks almost always reccomend taking Holon Farmer out of builds.

That is because Holon Farmer gives no DIRECT results. Still, it is an OK card, that is for sure.

Granted my experience is a bit limited but I've literally seen 1 Holon Farmer win games more than once. The ability to grab energy and pokemon out of discard is huge if you have a bad start or a critical tech gets KOed. Yes it's not a great early game card most of the time, but it can be a strong mid to late game tech IMHO.

Yes, holon farmer works especially well if you run eevelutions as well as giant stump. You can retreat and drop your damaged pokemon, then farmr them and later get them back out. It's great.
