Getting Into Competitive Play in an Area Lacking Tournaments

Hi so I'm wanting to get into competitive tcg play and the problem is that I live in Boston. There are literally no tournaments in Boston and my league leader told me that her and another person are getting certified a judges ( we have one judge), so we are going to have LCs soon. I don't think we even have a city championship here. So what are your suggestion on what I should do. (Decks are probably not an issue)

I think I'm in a similar position to you, so I can hopefully give you some tips. I live 10 hours from the nearest certified reliable Pokemon Tournament and there are absolutely no leagues/gatherings within at least a two hour radius from where I live that I am aware of. Due to this, I've dropped competitive play largely, although I do try to keep in the loop using these resources:

PB
PB is my main source of competitive knowledge. Between threads made and the PB Skype community, I have been able to keep in the loop of the competitive scene.

PTCG Online
The official PTCG emulator is really the only way I can play any sort of competitive battle due to my isolated location, so the engine is vital in keeping my competitive play acceptable.

I actually have made a thread looking for advice similar to yourself, which may have some advice that you are looking for.

EDIT: Now, on rereading the OP, I think you're more looking on advice in getting points as part of playing competitive. I believe that achieving large amounts of points requires significant travelling to large sanctioned events, such as Cities and States.

I can travel to cities and states the problem is that there are none. I will probably go to regionals in the spring because they are like 1:30 minutes away and I don't want to travel to like Utah and Florida until I consistently get decent results. Also there is not much of a competitive scene in my area so I can't play test with good players.

You shouldn't be able to find any States at the present time, as currently the 2016 scene is in the early Cities phase.

Thanks sorry I'm sorta new to Pokemon so I don't know the when they post the events. Also do you know any websites where I check like regionals and cities and states. (Bigger events I can find things like LCs)

You can find bigger events using the event locator I linked you. Go to advanced search and I believe an appropriate filter can be found under one of the dropdowns.

Not to sound eliteist, but everyone I know thinks that pokebeach is full of newbs and they ask me why I'm still on here, to be honest it's not like it matters.

Maybe not Boston but Massachusetts has a ton of solid players, I definitely suggest looking out of town on this one, it will not disappoint you I assure you.

I'm definitely a newb, but I fence competitively and I'm used to know all my tournaments for the year so I'm not used to not knowing my tournaments.
