getting my girl friend into the game

You shouldn't post this here! READ THE RULES! It should be posted in general TCG discussion! But because you already posted it I'd say Machamp thats a good fast deck that is all about destroying the metagame decks.

NN: don't minimod

Firstly, team overdose, wrong forum

Secondly, piplup234, don't mini-mod

Well if you dont have the money to start her of with the machamp deck then get her a starter deck, im not sure whats the best ne you decide. After that tell her to buy some boosters and hopefully she can make a good deck. Also if she doesnt knwo synergy and rare candy methods then teach her as obviously triangle lines and theme decks wont get you any where.

No. That's not how you do it. Why waste twelve dollars on cards that can't even win a tournament? You want to build a decent deck right on the bat.

If you are looking for a nice, fun deck, with plenty of variation, try out Blastcatty. It's quite fun to play, and isn't too complicated, yet can do decent at tournies.

I disagree.
From what I'm told, and now, what I've done,
Theme Decks are the way to go when teaching someone the game.
Then after you play a few games, tell her what's wrong with the theme decks; pyramid lines, energy search, synergy, etc.

Then take the theme deck, and modify it a bit, like an in-between of a theme deck and a tourney deck.
For instance, make the 4-2-1 lines 3-2-2, and the 4-1 ones 3-2.
Lessen the number of basics and add in more evos.
Then explain the reasoning for this and also tell her why you should play less energy and more trainers.

Play her again with the modified deck(s).
If that goes well. Let her build something simple.
And go from there. ;D

It depends though if she is a quick learner then why not but If she just started then she needs to learn the basics

she likes the pixies but amu isnt really any good

That's a lie and you know it.
AMU is capable of T2 200.
It's a really fast deck, that covers each archetype but tanking.

If you wanna start her off fast, rig her up a simple AMU deck. Use proxies if you need to, for the sake of learning.

I miss AMU now. :[

With Level Max it is. It beats Machamp, outspeeds most decks, beats the Palkia variant of G Pokes, it's actually quite good.

In the right hands AMU can almost never lose. I wouldn't recommend it, its rather complicated and plays differently from every other deck in the metagame. Go with kingdra because, it's fast, it's simple and it's fun. Then once she's got the basics of that switch her over to an AMU build.

If you have AMU cards to give her, then make her an unbeatable deck. It is a little pricy though, if you don't have the cards. Cheap decks might include Scizor, Mightytank, Toxitank, etc.

dmaster out.

i suggest the amu deck one. i think its a really fast deck that covers 200 damage T2 nearly unbeatble if mastered and in a right hand. ^_^

AMU is probably the way to go... She likes the Pixies, and if she starts with an AMU deck, she'll learn how to play it well, and then she will PWN with it! Try 3-1 of the AMU's, with one of the MT ones except Uxie, and run a 1-1 Palkia LV.X Line... 1 Lux, 4 Premier, and 4 Lv.X... 3 Switches, 1 WP, and 1 NM... That's what I learned from trying it... IT PWNS!!!

Going from experience. Once having been the "Girlfriend being taught how to play and is constantly being taught new tricks, I would say It depends on your girlfriend... The first ever deck i tried to run was a Bellosom/Vespiquen deck. The strategy was great but the speed of the deck was slow and my deck has changed constantly.

So- Ask her what she wants to run, what does she want it to do...its her deck, her choice, help her to learn and how to make it better, but i find that if i pick the deck, it works for me, might not work for everyone, but thats all I can say.

You could try a simple electric deck.
