So Golduck can move any basic energy with its ability Hyper Trans so it has a lot of potential. Now what do we pair it with?

Wailord and max potion (reprint) should be a fun deck with all of the current energy acceleration.

Golduck is essentially a "stage 2 minus Rare Candy shortcut," so it's kind of difficult to think of things to combine it with without seeming too clunky...

...much like that sentence.

Anyway, it might go well with Smeargle and some other attackers, making a toolbox deck similar to Aromatisse, but being able to swap Energy out at will. The issue is you need a way to get that Energy going in the first place. Perhaps Yveltal (XY) or Landorus (FUF) might make a decent little accelerator? Landorus can attach any Basic Energy, whereas Yveltal is restricted to Dark, but Yveltal gets 10 more damage from its attack.

true only true perk of yveltal is the matchup with night march as it ohko all night march pokemon

The way I see it, there's no reason to build a deck around Golduck. If you run a ton or basic Pokemon with good types, why not just run Aromatisse instead of having to run a lot of energy? Golduck is a 2-2-2 in some decks that need it. I love Golduck so it pains me to say this but sadly, I think that Golduck Break is overrated

Anyone thought of bringing Golduck break out from Archie AITH?
There was a ruling that said that Archies/Maxies can't bring out Break. :( I know, they just had to ruin Golduck and Marowak.

You can still Archie's Ace Golduck and Break evolve, but yeah I highly doubt that's any better than just playing Psyduck - Golduck - Break.

The upcoming Palkia EX.

Palkia-EX – Water – HP180
Basic Pokemon

[W][W] Aqua Turbo: 40 damage. Search your deck for 2 [W] Energy and attach them to 1 of your Benched Pokemon. Shuffle your deck afterwards.

[W][W][W][W] Pearl Hurricane: 120 damage. Choose 1 of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon. This attack does 30 damage to it.

When a Pokemon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Weakness: Grass (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 2

Accelerator and an attacker in one. There's also Manaphy EX for easy retreating.

Manaphy-EX – Water – HP120
Basic Pokemon

Ability: Aqua Cube
Each of your Pokemon that has any [W] Energy attached to it has no Retreat Cost.

[W][W] Mineral Pump: 60 damage. Heal 30 HP from each of your Benched Pokemon.

When a Pokemon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Weakness: Grass (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

Golduck also makes Milotic FF more viable. It provides a loophole around not being able to attach to EXes.

As for expanded, Ho Oh EX just became even more powerful.

@NintendoAlian

Golduck lets you move any basic energy around while Aromatisse only move fairy energy.
But you can use Rainbow Energy and use a stage 1 instead of a Stage 1 Break. Also, If you run Golduck with a lot of different attackers, then you need to run a lot of different energy for those attackers. Yes, Smeargle does exist, but that takes up bench space and the energies take up a lot of deck space.

Its not that hard though. I would use colorless Pokemon with the fairy support but some Pokemon gain a new strategy that do have this kind of support. Golduck Break would be nice for those Pokemon.

I think Golduck BREAK would go with Primal Kyogre. You can have lots of healing cards to really annoy your opponent and Golduck keeps a flow of energies going to Primal Kyogre. I attempted to use Blastoise and Archie, But by the time I get it out, I have all my energies prized, in the discard, and in play. Moving around energies would be great, even if it means it gets a bit more clunky.

what about primal groudon?

It works great for types that don't have great or energy acceleration. Fighting and Grass types benefit greatly from golduck break because they can keep energy in play and move them around. It really helps any deck that doesn't have acceleration.

Golduck doesn't provide acceleration. I believe it is more of a tech then an energy accelerator.
