Level ball > timer its more consistant, you will need a fisherman for item lock, -1 silent lab you just wont need it, its unlikly the eco arm will be of much use, consider a professors letter to get energy into hand, maybe one more water energy, and consider oranguru over octilary to fight glaceon ex

Okay, something I really have to say: 4x energy retrieval > starmie. From much playtesting I havn't whiffed and as a result have much better garbodor matchups. N.B. I ran more energy than this list. Keeping the octillery line is fine tho, imo; I just don't like the idea of relying heavily on abilities and taking an autoloss to garb when it isn't neccessary. Any worries about lurantis item lock, play 2 wobbs, as this is a 1 prize spam deck. Can't remember if I played puzzle of time but don't think I did.
Ideas:
  • more lysandre; less kukui, there aren't many 130hp basics that threaten golduck (fright night yveltal generally being the main one).
  • the faded town doesn't make much sense to me, but maybe it is to do with pokemon center lady, as the full wombo (120 + town + kukui +bursting balloon) can be lysandred around and isn't worth much due to the other areas that could be improved.
  • consider oranguru over octilary to fight glaceon ex
About this, psyduck can combat glaceon-EX with confusion (and a burst balloon) which cannot be blocked by magearna due to silent lab.
  • combatting greninja just isn't possible as they'll run circles around your bursting balloons at the end of the day.
  • Ace Trainer is bae
  • burst balloon only helps again 200+hp pokemon (pretty much all bulky pokemon you will fight) in this scenario: Golduck takes KO, opp hits into balloon, duck no.2 hits for 120 with a balloon. This is a once per game way to take advantage in the prize trade so 3 burst balloons is all that's needed: eco arm is overkill.
  • 2x super rod or you run out of attackers.

Let me get this straight: you want to play golduck (hard enough in of itself), without any stadiums (tru golduck has no good stadium), in a format where the most popular stadium card is parallel city?!?

In my testing I have now lost all faith in the goodness of splash energy.
Interesting tech cards:
  • wobbufet. He lets you fight item lock, however if you are still running starmie, I guess that doesn't matter.
  • The problem with golduck is that its a tight deck that spits out low hp 1 prize decent damage attackers (teammates?), but has no way to push its advantage except through shaymin-EX ko's (2nd lysandre?). Therefore another tech is golduck break. It has 140 hp so it is in the grey area where some decks can't OHKO it.
  • I've also been trying Tauros-GX which seems to be good at dealing with these pesky 250hp GXs.

I have had lots of success with splash when i use it to cycle a gulduck break (i play 1 copy) but i agree that stadiums, probably silent lab, are necisary and could replace the float stones because nothing in this deck has more than 1 retreat cost. I also play a single copy of teamates as it allows for a letter and duck search after a knock out.

@swaginator5000 Its more that it doesn't work for my than that it's bad.
Lab is the best stadium I could find, even though I take the shaymin-EX route. It does have a niche against glaceon-EX with plume lock. (beating magearna-EX)
I still run floats for tauros-GX and wobb, (for any1 reading its list dependant).

@swan glaceon has definitally been my biggest problem so i started running a single oranguru to fight it and the floats definitally make sense for your build just not this one

You did get the psyduck confusion thing right? Ofc, this still isn't a great counter till we get proper access to choice band.
