Good theme deck(s) to get? (Updated)

Hi, all!

I haven't been playing for years, but recently I get interested in playing again and bought some booster packs from Dark Explorers.

No luck for EXs, but I got the following cards:
Accelgor * 3 (with 3 basics)
Blaziken * 1 (only 1 basic, no 1st stage)
Empoleon * 1 (with 2 basic, and no 1st stage)
Elecktross * 1 (4 basic, and only one 1st stage)
Klingklang * 1 (2 basic and only one 1st stage)
Jolteon *1, Espeon * 1, Glaceon * 1, Leafeon * 1, Vaporeon * 2, Umbreon(with Confuse Ray) * 1 with 3 Eevees

For trainers, I got
dark claws * 3, dark patch * 1, random receivers * 2, N * 1, Rare Candy * 1, too.

I am thinking of getting a theme deck to play with friends for fun but I also hope that the deck could be more competitive. I checked some other post and consider the following theme decks:
- NV Furious Knights (With Eelektrik and Elecktross)
- DRX Shadows (With the Empoleon line) OR Raiders (Good trainers?)
- BC IceShock (good pokemon?)

I might buy some more booster packs or a tin too, which deck(s) will you suggest or is there anything better? I am not considering getting singles as there aren't many players trading in my region. Thanks!

RE: Good theme deck(s) to get

Best bet would be to buy two of the same theme deck and combine them into one.
Of course getting rid of useless Pokemon lines.

The Plasma Storm ones can be bought one of each and combined into a fairly decent Team Plasma deck.

The only good things out of the Boundaries Crossed decks were apparently Blastoise (only 1 per deck), and Skyla/Hugh/Cheren (2 of either Hugh or Cheren & 1 of Skyla in each starter).

If you have a Target/Walmart in your area maybe see if they have those 2 theme deck blisters/boxes.
They cost about $15, but come with two different theme decks (and two "promo" cards).
That's a slightly better deal than just buying one deck for $12.

At the local Walmart it seems that DragonSpeed is pretty common in that 2 deck thing I mentioned.

RE: Good theme deck(s) to get

Thanks for your advice! Those 2 theme deck blisters/boxes seem great, but actually I have never seen those products in my region. I am not living in North America and PTCG isn't very popular here, so I guess I need to see if I can order online or buy two theme decks myself.

None of the theme decks are even remotely competitive, but if you just wanted to just have fun with friends, then by all means.

The Mewtwo tin is always good to have. It can fit into any deck, even non competitive ones.

Keldeo tin is also good, partly because I personally like BC and PS packs more. Though getting Catcher is pretty satisfying as well.

Thanks for the suggestions from both Bo$$_89 and Lemonnade. I have considered buying Mewtwo, Keldeo as well as the Darkrai tin, but buying all these tins are expensive and maybe I should consider building a deck around one of these EXs?

The cost of on deck is quite high as twelve dollar. But it is better to with promo card as they are available in 7 to 8 dollar each.

Buying two Iceshock decks good idea?

Quick background story:
I have not played the Pokemon TCG since BASE SET 1. I ran a pretty mean Rain Dance deck and competed locally only. That was almost 15 years ago.

I saw some info about the Plasma Storm expansion and thought, "What the heck, I'll buy a booster for old time's sake!"

Sure enough, from my first pack I pulled a Black Kyurem EX. After some research, I found out that it is part of a modern "Rain Dance" style deck (Keldeo/Blastoise/Black Kyurem EX for you youngsters).

Now, I am getting back in the game. I bought 1 "Iceshock" deck today. I need 2 or 3 more Blastoise but the cheapest I have found are going for around 10 dollars.

Question: What should I do to get the rest of my Blastoises? Where I am, the Iceshock deck sells for 12 dollars, and includes other cards I need multiples of (Skyla, Cheren, Pokemon communication).

Option 1: Pay 10 dollars for a single blastoise?
Option 2: Pay 12 dollars for a second Iceshock deck? (possibly 2 more decks?)

RE: Buying two Iceshock decks good idea?

Honestly, I'd rather pay the 12 dollars for the second Iceshock deck. 10 dollars for one card doesn't seem like as good of a deal as just 2 more dollars to get more cards that you need as well, like Skyla. and if you have any extras, it gives you some trade bait as well, so you can possibly trade for even more cards that you need that you didn't necessarily get with the deck.

RE: Buying two Iceshock decks good idea?

I would go for the theme decks, as they also have a skyla in each, which you will also probably use.

The Boundaries Crossed deck featuring Black Kyurem has Blastoise. Then you're only a couple keldeo tins away from some top tier stuff. :D

As always I will be suggesting Speed Darkrai. But if this is not competitive and based on what you got out of your packs I would say build a Gothitelle/Accelgor/Mew EX Deck

When I was building my Keldeo/Blastoise deck, I bought 3x Iceshock decks just so that I could get my 3x Blastoises and some Sklya's. You also get the iceshock deck code for the Pokemon Trading Card Game online with each deck so that a plus with buying the theme decks.

What theme deck should I buy?

I used to play back when the HGSS sets were still a thing, but I stopped playing because all my friends quit. Now I'm thinking of starting up again though. Since I only have cards from CoL and back, I need some help knowing what cards to get a hold of. To start off, what theme deck should I buy in order to get some supporters and trainers going, and what other cards should I start looking for in order to build a good deck later on?

Any help is appreciated :)

Thanks everyone! A Gothitelle/Accelgor/Mew EX Deck seems great, but it is hard for me to buy singles.

I might as well buy a "Ice Shock" deck and a Keldeo tin. I might buy some BC booster packs, too. Do you think BC will get rotated soon?

Buying 3 "Ice Shock" decks seems pretty expensive...

Well any support

Skyla
N
Pokémon Catcher
Bianca
Rare Candy
Max Potion

Get some packs , EX's most if not all are worth more than £10 anyway so if you pull them they are great for trade bait. Check the forums for deck ideas, and product news. I'd wait for Plasma Freeze to come out get some packs .
