After seeing the new BKP Aegislash at last weeked’s Pre-release tournament, it started my deck-building ideas and wheels cranking, especially since I’ve played a variety of different damage-spread decks currently and in the past. Following is v0.0 of my Gourgeist-Aegislash, an eerie, painful (puns intended) deck:
Pokémon (16)
This is essentially another damage-spread deck that features the new Aegislash’s Sword Pain.
Ideally start with Pumpkabo. Gourgeist is the lead attacker for a number of reasons including:
Given how there are a variety of different Pokémon HPs, consideration has been given to including a 1-1 Meowstic line. Meowstic Ear influence attack can move damage counters around on all of the opponent’s Pokémon.
Another option under consideration is replacing the entire Gourgeist line with the new Trevenant BREAK line, but incorporate both XY and BKP Trevenant.
Comments are welcomed and appreciated. Thanks.

Ideally start with Pumpkabo. Gourgeist is the lead attacker for a number of reasons including:
- Pumpkaboo’s attack can auto-Confuse the Defending Pokémon which is very helpful at times.
- Gourgeist’s Eerie Voice attack places 2 damage counters on all of the opponent’s Pokémon. If need be, its Spirit Scream attack can also be used to put the Defending Pokémon (and Gourgeist too) 10 damage away from being KOd.
- Disrupt opponent’s hand with Ace Trainer, assuming the initial Gourgeist was KOd,
- Continue attacking with a 2nd Gourgeist, and/or
- Attack with Aegislash whose Sword Pain attack DOUBLES the amount of damage already on each of the opponent’s Pokémon.
