So what about Grumpig as a fun deck to lock powers the entire game? Its not great, but since Gardevoir was so popular, why not? Slap an expert belt on there, maybe some plus powers and you got yourself a mini-gardevoir.

Grumpig - Psychic - HP 90
Stage 1 - Evolves from Spoink

[P][C] Psychic Lock: 20 damage. Your opponent can’t use Poke-Powers during your opponent’s next turn.
[P][C][C] Manipulate Bench: Flip a number of coins equal to the number of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon, and this attack does 40 damage times the number of tails. Your opponent flips the coin. This attack’s damage isn’t affected by Weakness or Resistance.

Weakness: Psychic (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 2

Why not? Powers aren't as relied on this format. Not having Uxie for a few turns isn't gonna kill anyone. Also, 40 damage (inc belt) is pretty lame. You won't be able to beat anything doing 40 for 2.

Yeh umm...
Gardevoir had: A great power, large amount of HP, a level X with a good power, an actual damage output and a +30 Weakness.
Grumpig has: Bad type coverage for the current format (excluding Machamp), very low HP, very low Damage out put, no power, can't abuse scramble/DCE (part of the reason because scramble energy isn't legal anymore...) and a x2 weakness. Lets face it, an expert belt Uxie can almost OHKO this thing, and it doesn't have a high enough damage output to kill a Horsea, even with an expert belt. It is a great idea, but I just don't see it being competitive, like you said a fun deck. If you were to consider building something around this, I would try having it run Dodrio UD to get ride of its high retreat, maybe cram a Luxray in there, or a 2-1-2-1 Gengar lv.X line and it might start to play with some attack power, because early game power lock is good, you just need some attack power . Hope it works!

I dunno if I would ever actually play this outside of MAYBE a day of league, just seemed fun. Maybe as a late game attacker to prevent heals in a spread deck. IDK, just seemed fun.

I kinda like the second attack more lol...Usually decks have huge Benches. Yeah, it's a coin flip, so Nidoqueen is probably better, but the damage output can be 220 with a Belt. Easily done with a Psychic and a DCE, T3. That's deadly. And the best part is that your opponent is flipping for that damage. With that, it can never fail.

dmaster out.

Yeah I do like that attack as well. When psychic lock can get the KO, use that, and when you need to take down a monster, go with the second attack and swarm them grumpigs lol.

Um...practically every thing in the format will soon have x2 weakness, so thats not a BIG issue.
This thing is more recoverable (being a stage 1) and can easily swarm. When you get KO'ed just make sure you have an Unown Q'd Smeargle UD and voila you get to use 2 Supporters for your turn (remind you of someone?). Remember when you drew into another Psychic Energy instead of the DCE you need to attack with? well Grumpig attacks with just two psychic energy, a Psychic and a warp, etc... Then there is the damage output...ewwwww. Well there is this nice supporter called Black Belt that turns Psychic Lock into a 60 damage attack (if you are behind on prizes, which you will be after using Grumpig and Ebelt to Psychic Lock for 40 the first few turns). Run VS Seeker and you got your self a Power Locking attack with 60 dmg for 8 turns (remind you of anyone?). Don't forget to run Mesprit LA and SSU. Power Locking is still crucial being able to use Psychic Lock when your opponent just has Pokemon Collector in their hand is crippling.

Grumpig is awsome.

P.S. This deck Sucks SO hard for competitive play. that is...unless it is facing Lostgar.

I actually kind of like Grumpig, and now reading this thread I think I'll make a Grumpig deck when HS Triumphant comes out.:)
One bonus that Grumpig has, is being in a format with Vileplume. Power lock can be hard enough for decks to work around, but
power and trainer lock can be devastating.

Well, the thing that everybody missed is a built in evo line attacker. Gallade was awesome in the deck because it just made a bunch of easy prizes and flipped over your prizes while Gardevoir is up for late game lock.

@afro:plume+grumpig can cause havoc and it really can be a decent deck...if only it didnt cut down on the usage of belt/pp etc :(....i guess sfgar +grumpig might work....

@TDA: It's Afro-G get it right!:p and if you were to play Vileplume with Grumpig, you should definitely play Hunter.
@banuffin: You're probably right and Hunter makes Mesprit even better.

God I'd hate to get this card against me, what with my habit of throwing 75% of my coinflips tails...that'll be a disaster

3 Spiritomb
4-4 Grumpig
2-2-2 Vileplume
2 Mesprit
2 Uxie
1 Unown Q

That doesn't seem like a bad lineup I guess. Power+Trainer lock ftw.

dmaster out.

If only Grumpig had more HP and a more Powerful attack. Then it may be viable with a Trainer Lock from Vileplume. Will definatley be trying this out at a league though.
