The Pokemon GTS website will be closed ,maybe due to the Dream World replacing it. Here is a news post from a popular site I visit. (It is a Pokemon site for Australia.Im sorry I can't advertise.).
Nintendo and the Pokémon Company International have announced they will be closing the Pokémon Global Trade Station website next month. From September 14th 2010, the Pokémon GTS site will be shut down after three years of providing 4th generation Pokémon gamers with information and statistics regarding the GTS and what trades were going on around the world. The Pokémon GTS website first opened on September 15th 2007 and will be closing on its third anniversary.

With Pokémon Black and White launching in Japan four days after the official GTS website closes, we can expect the Pokémon Global Link website to open up and offer us a whole new experience. The Pokémon Company International state “The Pokémon GTS website is closing, but there is a lot of Pokémon fun and excitement still to come.” which seems to hint at the Global Link which will offer us new and exciting features including access to the Dream World.

(If this ain't in the right forum,Please move it.)

I'm pretty sure it's confirmed if the site owners and GameFreak wrote down that they're going to shut it down. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't lie to avoid some crappy lady in Kansas who cried over it to sue for ruining her life, trust me, that's happened before.

So the website will be shut down but we can still using it in the games, right?

That's a good question. Would trades still go through? I'm guessing the website is not actually related to trading on the DS?

I'd imagine that the Gen IV GTS will only stop functioning once we have Generation VI, as Gen V currently needs Gen IV to get Zorua and Zoroark.

Also, did anybody even use this website?

REALLY?? Well now I have a change of heart. I WILL MISS THE GTS:(:(:(:(:( But dream world is better in some ways:p:p :F:D{D}

Meh.I thought it was useless unless you needed to find a pokemon from a particular region.Other than that I thoght that it was a bit useless.

It just says that the website will be shut down. The waste of bandwidth will be taken down, who cares? The GTS servers will likely remain up until B/W completely takes over D/P/Pt. Besides, did anyone ever even use the website? I cannot remember any reasonable use for it.

I never really used it, the odd time it was interesting to see how many people registered their games in which countries or what the most traded pokemon were but it was a bit of novelty for me which ran out fairly quick.

I hope the actual GTS will stay up though....I still need to fill up my pokedex in soul silver :( (316 pokemon and counting)

so, good news. I found this on Bulbapedia:

The official Pokémon GTS website has just announced that it will be closing on Sept. 14. Today, the site put a link on the main page that leads to a notice that says:

“ Thank you for your interest in Pokémon and the Pokémon GTS website.
The Pokémon GTS website will close at 11:00 a.m. PST on 9/14/10.

Although the website is closing, you can continue to use the Pokémon GTS service to trade Pokémon in your video games.

The Pokémon GTS website is closing, but there is a lot of Pokémon fun and excitement on the way. Stay tuned to Pokemon.com for the latest news!

Oh this is great an early B-day present that stinks,I loved the GTS Journal,I mean it's actually helpful.I use it to see what pokemon people want.I hope they relize it's a good site. And the Pokemon offical website is more into the show and stupid flash games then into the Video Games.

The website is actually really cool. The layout and the whole trading thing is really cool to watch. But it seems like it has to go since Black & White is approaching.
