Guardians Rising has really gotten the creative juices flowing. This is the third list I'm posting and I have many more ideas. Anyway, this one is based off of golisopod, It's essentially like a new version of garchomp, doing more damage if the opponent's active is an EX or GX. This is the list that I think will allow golisopod to shine to its fullest potential.

Pokemon (20):

  • Wimpod (3)

  • Golisopod (3)

  • Chansey GRI (1)

  • Blissey GRI (1)

  • Eevee SUM (4)

  • Vaporeon AOR (2)

  • Jolteon AOR (2)

  • Flareon AOR (2)

  • Oranguru SUM (2)
Trainer (32):

  • Choice band (3)

  • Forest of giant plants (2)

  • Sky field (2)

  • Field blower (2)

  • Devolution spray (2)

  • Lysandre (2)

  • N (3)

  • Sycamore (4)

  • Ultra Ball (4)

  • Trainer’s Mail (4)

  • Vs Seeker (4)
Energy (8):

  • Double colorless energy (4)

  • Grass energy (4)

Strategy: Use FoGP and energy types to get a golisopod by turn two. Use choice band to do a total bonus of 100 damage to EX/GX opponents, and use Eeveelutions to hit weakness against things like Volcanion, Decidueye, Lurantis, Water Box, and Mega Ray to name a few.

Personal Rating: 4/5

Feel free to leave advice as always. Thanks!

This deck is still being adjusted, but here are the basics in the strategy:

Obviously, Golisopod is the attacker, and with choice band does 180 damage to GX and EX, which is great, but not quite enough. Because of this, I added in the Promo Lurantis, as with 2 on the bench, it does 240 damage to GX/EX pokemon, and 120 to anything else. This will allow for OHKOs on most pokemon in the meta, with the exception of Solgaleo, Lunala, and a few others. For Solgaleo, Flareon makes this a simple fix. For Lunala, using Kukui brings max damage to 260 for a one shot, which is absolutely necessary against that deck due to free Max Potion uses. I decided to run only 1 Eevee as I found that I rarely had a use for any more than 1 at a time. In addition, Jolteon didn't seem to do too much in the deck, as there aren't too many decks that are weak to electric at the moment, and those pokemon with electricity weakness in a deck tend not to be attackers. The only real advantage I had with it was when my opponent played Rough Seas, which was also covered by Vaporeon. I used Shiinotic to maximize the effectiveness of Forest of Giant plants, as you can use either a level ball or timer ball to get a pokemon from one part of the evolution line, and use Shiinotic to supplement the other needed pokemon. Forest is a MUST in this deck. Even though Golisopod can't attack first turn unless some fancy ether/energy swicth plays are made, the damage reduction from its ability heavily swings the game into your favor. This is especially important in the early game, as many single-energy cost attacks in the SM expansions do 30 damage or less, making them completely ineffective against Golisopod. The Hammers are great control choices, but completely optional if you feel are able to set up fast enough. Rotom dex allows you to get back key cards in a match, such as the last Lurantis needed to buff your damage into kill range. It is very helpful in a pinch, but try to use it when you have as many Lurantis and Golisopod set up as possible. If you put those cards into your prize cards, you might not get them back until it is too late. Ilima is a bit of a gamble, but great control potential if you have already set up a Golisopod or 2. With my current build, I seem to be having trouble getting really solid draw all the time, but for the most part it works well. I want to adjust the deck to get the cards I need when I want them, but keep the damage pressure I already have. I am probably going to get rid of the Hammers for some better draw support. If you have any suggestions with this, please let me know.

Tl;dr - Lurantis allows OHKOs, evolve fast for pressure, and you will probably lose to Trashalance Garbador decks.
