Biweekly Haiku & Short-Poem Contest XVIII
Rules and Entry Information
1.) Signups will again be based on the order in which submissions are made, meaning that all entries are to be made upfront (either here or via PM to me). The limit for entries is again set at fifteen participants. Once an entry is submitted, it cannot be swapped out for something else or altered in any way.
2.) Submissions are expected to be haiku-style short poems (those with a “five-seven-five” syllable format spread out across three lines). However, other types of short poems will be accepted so long as they don’t exceed four lines in length. New entries will be accepted until Wednesday, April 18, 2012 around noon, until all slots have been filled, or the thread sits several days without new entries.
3.) Each poem for the contest must follow the selected theme for the competition. Due to artist’s having different interpretations of ideas, no haiku will be disqualified for writing about divergent topics so long as the theme is tied in somehow (if it isn’t, then you will be disqualified for the duration of this round). This contest’s theme is Writer’s Choice.
4.) Voting will run for three days and be open to all members of PokéBeach. Everyone will be allowed to vote for up to three of their favorites. All participants are required to vote; however, you are not allowed to vote for your own (if I catch you doing so, you’ll be docked a point).
*Rules, timescales, and other parameters are subject to change without notice.
Entry List (Title/Author Set-up)
1.) Severely Wounded (By [member]Lucky Fire[/member])
When I leave on a trip,
returning, I find everything ripped
to tattered pieces, all of my belongings...
Oh, how I long so to see them along with me, safe.
2.) Torn (By [member]Zyflair[/member])
Two sides with merit
Sweetly enticing my soul.
Must I choose just one?
3.) Separation (By [member]The Fallen One[/member])
Love is curious,
Defying distance, and yet,
Cannot break the wall.
4.) ICY DEATH (By [member]darkpoet[/member])
tomorrow my breath
will be wind through scattered snow--
dying on this trail.
5.) Kairos (by [member]Teal[/member])
Wind's silent fanfare
giving shape to flowing time
a windless second.
6.) Choice (by [member]The Yoshi[/member])
Choice is something that
is made at a time in life.
You choose that time, friend.
7.) Burdened (by [member]Typhlo Wolf[/member])
My sins coiled around my throat,
I'm chilled and numb to the marrow,
Icy claws held my core,
crushing it's survival.
