Biweekly Haiku & Short-Poem Contest XL

Rules and Entry Information

1.) Signups will again be based on the order in which submissions are made, meaning that all entries are to be made upfront (either here or via PM to me). There is no limit in how many can participate. Once an entry is submitted, it cannot be swapped out for something else or altered in any way.

2.) Submissions are expected to be haiku-style short poems (those with a “five-seven-five” syllable format spread out across three lines). However, other types of short poems will be accepted so long as they don’t exceed four lines in length. New entries will be accepted until Wednesday, February 27th around evening or until all slots are filled.

3.) Each poem for the contest must follow the selected theme for the competition. Due to artist’s having different interpretations of ideas, no haiku will be disqualified for writing about divergent topics so long as the theme is tied in somehow (if it isn’t, then you will be disqualified for the duration of this round); however, please note that poems posted with intent to troll or written up stupidly will be disqualified automatically. This contest’s theme is Failure.

4.) From here on out, voting will be conducted by private ballots submitted to me via PM or by "Liking" posts. These should include the titles of your three favorite poems for this round. Ballots will then be tallied and the winner will announced on Sunday, March 3rd.

*Rules, timescales, and other parameters are subject to change without notice.

1.) Disgrace (By [member]Incinermyn[/member])
That feeling you get
from your dad's disapproving
stare. You're a disgrace!

2.) Failure. (By [member]RaichuGirl[/member])
Eyes' no longer dry,
All effort and time wasted,
The timeless heartbreak.

3.) Ashamed. (By [member]Serperior[/member])

Tears cascade. Wimpers stammer.
Effort...lost in vain.

I have failed in my duty...
And now she's dead...No!!

5.) Sugarcoat (By [member]Teal[/member])

it tried again and yet failed
the snowman melting.

You know that moment,

(No it isn't for another two-three freaking months.)

PS: I love how emo these get over 50% of the time so here you have a more traditional humorous nature haiku. ;P

Most of the time, my Haikus get based on situations that took place in my Nightmare series. I don't get emo on purpose.

RE: Haiku & Short-Poem Contest XL

I mean the themes and most poems, not any particular ones. P:

I like the poems this round, but I agree there are too many dark ones, so I added another funny one.
