Biweekly Haiku & Short-Poem Contest XVII

Rules and Entry Information

1.) Signups will again be based on the order in which submissions are made, meaning that all entries are to be made upfront (either here or via PM to me). The limit for entries is again set at fifteen participants. Once an entry is submitted, it cannot be swapped out for something else or altered in any way.

2.) Submissions are expected to be haiku-style short poems (those with a “five-seven-five” syllable format spread out across three lines). However, other types of short poems will be accepted so long as they don’t exceed four lines in length. New entries will be accepted until Wednesday, April , 2012 around noon, until all slots have been filled, or the thread sits several days without new entries.

3.) Each poem for the contest must follow the selected theme for the competition. Due to artist’s having different interpretations of ideas, no haiku will be disqualified for writing about divergent topics so long as the theme is tied in somehow (if it isn’t, then you will be disqualified for the duration of this round). This contest’s theme is Pokémon (And this goes for anything related to the series, TCG, Videogames, etc.).

4.) Voting will run for three days and be open to all members of PokéBeach. Everyone will be allowed to vote for up to three of their favorites. All participants are required to vote; however, you are not allowed to vote for your own (if I catch you doing so, you’ll be docked a point).

*Rules, timescales, and other parameters are subject to change without notice.

I'll probably lose Don't give up, Apollo. This contest is probably the WC's last hope of activity. Otherwise, this forum might be closed. If you're going to lock this thread, could you at least revive the ideas thread and post one new contest? :)

Hax (by [member]The Yoshi[/member])

Hax is something that
is indescribable, but
it frustrates many.

Edit: I have no idea where you're coming from, Apollo. This contest gets 8-10 entries, maybe more, every week. I think that is pretty good activity for the Writing Corner already. I don't see where you're coming from when you're wishing for more activity then you'll be getting.

RE: Haiku & Short-Poem Contest XVII

Actually, Yoshi, I've noticed that this contest is getting less activity. Have you noticed that less people are voting?

RE: Haiku & Short-Poem Contest XVII

Updated! The issue is that activity has been sort of down compared to several contests ago where we were getting up towards 12 or 15 contestants per contest. Maybe I'm just imagining it, or perhaps I've just been feeling a little inactive lately since my work has suddenly picked up again?

RE: Haiku & Short-Poem Contest XVII

It's because of school and stuff. Someone in another thread said that activity picks up a lot during the summer, so there's nothing to worry about, unless the inactivity continues of course.

RE: Haiku & Short-Poem Contest XVII

Okay then. I'll keep this going as long as I have ideas for it. Just don't be surprised if I do put a short haitus on this around the week of my birthday in April or sometime in May.

RE: Haiku & Short-Poem Contest XVII

Oh, no. You made a mistake in my poem. It seems like it's all underlined and bold. >.<

I think that's happened in my third chapter (currently in progress) of The Time Portal. I had to delete the tags in the heading to remove the boldness and lines, otherwise I'd get warned. What happened?

RE: Haiku & Short-Poem Contest XVII

Sorry, that was my mistake. I misspelled one of the tags I used when I copy-and-pasted the poems.

RE: Haiku & Short-Poem Contest XVII

Oh, I shall submit mine.
