Biweekly Haiku & Short-Poem Contest XXVIII

Rules and Entry Information

1.) Signups will again be based on the order in which submissions are made, meaning that all entries are to be made upfront (either here or via PM to me). The limit for entries is again set at fifteen participants. Once an entry is submitted, it cannot be swapped out for something else or altered in any way.

2.) Submissions are expected to be haiku-style short poems (those with a “five-seven-five” syllable format spread out across three lines). However, other types of short poems will be accepted so long as they don’t exceed four lines in length. New entries will be accepted until Wednesday, September 5th, 2012 around noon, until all slots have been filled, or the thread sits several days without new entries.

3.) Each poem for the contest must follow the selected theme for the competition. Due to artist’s having different interpretations of ideas, no haiku will be disqualified for writing about divergent topics so long as the theme is tied in somehow (if it isn’t, then you will be disqualified for the duration of this round); however, please note that poems posted with intent to troll or written up stupidly will be disqualified automatically. This contest’s theme is Trust and/or Dissension.

4.) Voting will run for three days and be open to all members of PokéBeach. Everyone will be allowed to vote for up to three of their favorites. If more than eight entries are submitted, then participants may vote for their own poem. However, if less are entered, then they may not and a point will be deducted from the score of anyone who does so.

*Rules, timescales, and other parameters are subject to change without notice.

Entry List (Title/Author Set-up)

1.) {Your Love} (By [member]Grumpigfarmer[/member])
+++++++++++++++++++++++
I'll ignore the pain,
and trust what you say is real.
Trust your love can heal.
++++++++++++++++++++++

2.) Open (By [member]Deus: Nightmare Autarch[/member])
'Tis impossible,
to place my trust in someone,
yet retain myself.

3.) Wariness(By [member]Zyflair[/member])
To wisely keep faith,
Trust others at least once, yet
Keep an eye open.

4.) Trusting you (By [member]Arcanine954[/member])
I had my trust in you
my faith and heart
I now see it is forever lost

5.) Fool (By [member]Teal[/member])
Flip-flop more, flip-flop.
Know when it's time to grow up,
juvenile adult.

6.) Verse of Mistrust (By [SMod]Nigel[/SMod])
A firm belief of integrity
If for every special certainty
We could place such dependence fervently
Without having to care about mistrust

7.)No More (By [member]Lucky Fire[/member])
I shall not give in anymore.
No, we both dislike each opinion.
Their draw is as powerful as ore.
If we cannot stop arguing, why do we not make amends?

8.) Scarred (By [member]Dark-Giratina[/member])
No more can I trust,
you scarred me beyond healing,
I shall not again

9.) Rogastar and Rogetta (By [member]CJBlazerX87[/member])
Rogastar, the light ninja
evolved from trusting its trainer
while Rogetta does not.

I can change it if it doesn't fit in. Actually, I'll post a new poem with an actual connection to the theme. Or just watch. :p

Scarred
No more can I trust,
you scarred me beyond healing,
I shall not again

Either "fervently" or "fervency". I think in that case it's "fervently".

Updated. Nigel, I corrected that little presumed misspelling for you too in the OP. If you want it changed back, just give me a heads-up or edit it yourself if you want to (either is fine by me).

Incinermyn, can you fix the cap a in my poem? change it to this.

{You're Love}
+++++++++++++++++++++++
I'll ignore the pain,
and trust what you say is real.
Trust you're love can heal.

Thank you.

Your = belonging to you
You're = you are

...I think you got them backwards.
