I have a geodude from the Fossil set that has golden eyes and a much more golden border to the card. Any ideas on why or whether it's an error card?

The real fossil geodude has white eyes, NOT golden. But before you call it as a fake, consider how old the card is:
1. The ink could be saturated by this time, yellowing, golding, or even graying, out the card's template, or...
2. The ink could be applied at a different card spot than normal at the time the card was made,
3. There could be other possible reasons other than the "made by someone NOT from an official source"/ fake hothead excuse that people make to attempt to justify how the card does not match that of its normal print that explains why the card's irregularities occurred...
^ Those are my two cents regarding why your fossil geodude is an error card. Does not have to be documented to be an error card. Just ask the error Drapion from Lost Origin as an example of a non-documented error card. Miscuts on one side shown by uneven card borders
