Hey everybody, this is a Nuzlocke run of Pokemon Ruby Destiny: Reign of Legends. It is a hack of Pokemon Ruby, so it is a 3rd generation game as far as I'm aware of. I was randomly searching around for a good hack to play and found this. It looked like it had some pretty good reviews. I have no idea what will be different in this game compared to the original Ruby, but I guess we're about to find out!
RULES
Ah yes, the rules of this Nuzlocke run. Lets roll.
1. You may only catch the first Pokemon that you encounter on each Route. If you fail to catch it by any means, then you may not catch a Pokemon on that Route.
2. If a Pokemon is ever Knocked Out, that Pokemon is considered dead and may not be used in the run at any time after said death. It will be stored in a Box seperate to the alive Mons, and may only be withdrawn for the use of an HM if no alive member can learn it. If an alive member can learn said HM, you must do so and you may not use the dead Pokemon.
3. You must nickname all Pokemon.
4. The only exception to Rule 1 is that you may opt to skip out on catching a Pokemon that you have already caught. (IE, you catch a Poochyena on Route 103 and find another Poochyena on the following Route, you may choose to skip that second Poochyena and find a new Pokemon.)
5. You may catch Legendaries, even if its not your first Pokemon in the area, but may not use them no matter what circumstance.
6. The eleventh commandment of God is 'Thou shall not blatty.' And I shall not.

RUN
Part 1
Well, I start up the emulator and watch the intro. It seems to be the same, except for that May and Brendan with their assorted Pokemon are instead replaced with only a Lugia and Shadow Lugia flying through the sky. Also, the spriting for Brendan and May after that scene has changed to look like the characters from FRLG. On te start up screen, all thats different is Ruby has been changed to 'Ruby Destiny' and the Groudon has been changed to a Shadow Lugia.
Without further ado, I start up the game and name myself HATMAN, and we are plunged into the world of Pokemon!
The opening scene with the moving truck is the same, except that your sprite looks like Red's from HGSS. When you hop out of the vehicle, you are told by your Mom that you are in Sun Ford Town, although the place is strikingly identical to Littleroot in terms of layout. I walk upstairs and set my clock. Afterwards I check my PC and to my suprise, there's a Potion there waiting for me, which wasn't in the original R/S. Then I head downstairs and my mom drags me over to the TV to see something about Snow Soft Gym and someone named Kevin. Looks like our dad is named Kevin.
I then go to our Rival's house, who has what looks like a revamped FRLG Girl sprite. I accidentally clicked through the text too fast, but her name starts with a T and is a lot longer than 'May.'
I exit the house and explore the town a bit, and find a house that wasn't in the original games. It has an old man in it with a locked door in the back of the house. Did I mention that the forest was directly behind the house? Sort of weird if you ask me, I can't wait to find out whats in there.
I then go up to save Professor Birch. I choose Mudkip, defeat the Poochyena easily, and get warped back to the lab. I get asked what I'm going to nickname the Mudkip and after a while of thought, I go with Captain Jack, but because the 10 letter Nickname rule is a jerk, I have to go with CAPT JACK for short. Why Jack, you may ask? Because Jack Sparrow, from Pirates of the Carribian. Sparrow is a pirate, who lives on the seas. I naturally associate that with a Water Type, and because Mudkip is our starter and 'Captain' of the team, I find that Captain Jack Sparrow is a very apt nickname for the fellow.
This brings us to the theme of nicknames for this run. The theme will be, All Pokemon must be nicknamed after a Movie, TV Show, or Video Game character. This is our nicknaming rule and I'm sure if I run out of good ideas I can just copy from Megaman bosses
I leave the lab and head north to 'SF Path,' which was the place I found Mudkip. Since I'm counting the Poochyena as our first Pokemon on that route, I'm not goign to be able to catch another on that route. I talk to some NPCs and one of them says that 'Our reigon, Gento, has four islands. The Pokemon on this island, Lorina Island, are mostly from the Hoenn region.'
I travel along this route for a little bit (which is completely unlike Route 102), and end up in this place called Bug Forest. I am luckily able to get through the grass without running into a Pokemon, and exit directly into a city called Ultima City. I'm immediatly confronted by a guy who looks like Riley from Iron Island in Sinnoh and am forced to battle him. Jack is weak from killing Zigzagoons on the first route, but luckily all this man has is a Level 2 Pidgey and a Level 3 Riolu. I take the win, level up to Level 6 on Pidgey, and learn Mud Slap, which is a move Mudkip doesn't normally get for a while. I spam Mud Slap on Riolu until I kill it, which elevates me to Level 7. After the battle, he tells me his name is Blitz and leaves into the Bug Forest. I heal up at the Pokecenter and look through the small town. There isn't much here, but when I talk to a little girl she asks me if I'm a Pokemon Trainer. I actually respond in my own speech bubble thing that says 'Uh, yeah.' and then walk away. THE MAIN CHARACTER ISN'T SILENT IN THIS GAME YES.
Sadly there is no Pokemart here, so it looks like I'll have to miss out on catching a Pokemon in the Bug Forest for now. The only way out of here is where I came in, and I continue my journey to find Pokeballs so I can catch Pokemon for my run!
My first Pokemon I find in Bug Forest is a Surskit. I wouldn't have used it anyways, so whatever. After a tiny bit of walking, I make it to Snow Soft city, where I heal up and check the Pokemart. Still no Pokeballs. I head outside to explore the area when all the sudden-- A RALTS POPS OUT.
A RALTS.
I WOULD HAVE LOVED A RALTS.
UGH.
After regretfully killing it, I look through the village and wild Pokemon keep jumping out at me (did I mention that the ground is entirely made of snow?) including (but probably not limited to) Spheals, Smoochums, and Swinubs. I head to the Gym and find that this Kevin character isn't actually my dad, but my older brother! Thats pretty cool, isn't it? He has a sprite that looks like Brendan from the original R/S/E games except instead of green clothing he has red.
At that point, Wally walks in, gets a Zigzagoon, and goes outside and catches his Ralts. I leave the city to find the first real gym I can take on and another route appears. Still no Pokeballs. The first Pokemon I run in to? An Electrike. WHY DO YOU HATE ME GAME. WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY D:<
I find my first real trainers here and fight their Wurmples and Poochyenas quite easily and get to Luster Town as a Level 12 Mudkip with Tackle, Mud Slap, Water Gun, and Growl, where I will end off Day 1 of Pokemon Blind Nuzlocke Run of Ruby Destiny: Reign of Legends.

Part 2
So, I walk in to this Luster Town and explore for a bit, and the first house I find there's a man that gives me the HM Cut, so at least I won't have to search for it later. The rest of the town has nothing noteworthy, so I check the Pokemart to find...
That there are still no Pokeballs. I need to catch other Pokemon in a hurry soon, I can't go through this solo-Mudkip. To the West there is the guy who observes the 'rare Pokemon's' footprints and prevents you from going on to the next route. In the eastern part of town, theres a gym, but apparently the doors are locked and there's a sign that says 'Out for Lunch' on it. Meh.
I go North, since its the only way I can go, and find myself on Pass Path. First Pokemon? Oddish. At the northernmost point of the route I find our rival waiting for us, and I suddenly realize that his area is just a reskin of Oldale town and the Route North of it. I go up to Tamashii, and battle a Level 10 Pikachu. I sure picked the best starter for this, didn't I? However, despite having an obvious weakness to it, I am able to kill it in three Mud Slaps while she Thunder Waves twice and only Thundershocks once. After defeating her, I am told to go back to Sun Dale town or whatever it was to see Prof Birch, to obtain the Pokedex and FINALLY...
POKEBALLS! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY!!!
After I rejoice for a while, I get the Running Shoes from my Mom and then head back to the Gym in Luster to see if they're back from lunch yet. And they are. However, I want to find another Pokemon before I go in, just for a little variety. Footprint Guy isn't there any more, so I go to the next route and find a Female Oddish. Meh. After a bit or Googling and thinking, I name Oddish POISON IVY, after the super hero. With Poison Ivy at level 3 however, I do some level grinding and eventually get Oddish to level 16 and Mudkip (Now Marshtomp) to Level 17. I take on the gym, which seems to be Flying. I sweep through the minions with Jack and then its time for the Leader.
Anthony, the Flying type leader, leads with a Tailow, which I easily take out with two Water Guns from Jack. I then switch in Poison Ivy on Staravia (because from my experience those things are pretty bulky) to use a Stun Spore. He spams Double Team while I switch in Captain Jack again. I spam Water Gun, he spams Wing Attack, but in the end the para-haxs won me the game. I obtain the Sky Badge along with TM 40, Aerial Ace, from Anthony and run off to go Cut down a tree I saw while level grinding in that place where the Footprint man was. And sure enough I come to a cave called Lost Cave.
The instant I enter the cave someone ambushes me in the dark, since you apparently need Flash to light up the cave. He's a Dragon Tamer and although his only Pokemon is a Bagon and is level 10, it still is suprising to encounter dragons this early. I look around for a Pokemon and I run into an Aron. I send out Marshtomp and Tackle it until its weak, then chuck a Pokeball at it and call it IRON MAN. I then explore, but the island I'm on is surrounded by walls and water, so I can't do anything.
I level grind Iron Man up to level 16 with the others and then look for a path to go to. I remember seeing several Cut trees in Bug Forest, so I head there and Cut down a tree. I then get a scene that is basically the same as the Devon Researcher and the Team Aqua member, but instead, this guy claims to be RD, or Royal Darkness, not Aqua or Magma. Anyways, he sends out a level 14 Absol, but its no match for Iron Man. I take the victory and earn myself a Great Ball.
I see an abandoned house behind a Cut tree, so I go in, and I hear the Abandoned Ship music. And I need Flash. Even still, I walked around and I actually found a Zubat. I'm counting it as a new area even though it didn't have a name. I don't think I'll use him, but I'll name him BATMAN anyways.
I then pop out to what looks like the Route inbetween the Petalburg Forest and Rustburo City. I catch a Seedot there, name it Pinocchio, and go on our way. I battle a few trainers and such, get the Wailmer Pail, and finally end up in Rentalbud City. This is where I'll end off Part 2 of Ruby Destiny.

Part 3
Wanna know what sucks? This part of the Nuzlocke didn't save to my computer, and now I'm already in Part 4. Yeah. Sorry guys. I didn't do too much exciting stuff, I beat the second gym (which was electric by the way, so Captain Jack and his ground typing just about murdered it all), I got the TM for Rock Smash, taught it to Iron Man, and smashed the rocks in that one cave that connects Verdanturf and Rustburo in the original game. However on the other side was a patch of grass and some water. So I caught a Tailow there, named it Ostro (after the one enemy in Super Mario World I believe), went back through the cave (and caught a Geodude named Goron, he'll be my HM Slave from now on), and then went back in the Bug Forest to smash a rock I saw there earlier as well. I went through, Celebi appeared, and now I'm in some place that didn't have a name as far as I know. It does have grass though, so I will be catching a Pokemon there. Again, sorry about the technical difficulties, I'll have a full part up for you tomorrow. I'll list my current team and stuff below.
Day 4
So, I start off the day by catching a Ninjask in these 'Myserious Woods' and name it Red School, because it was a cool ninja type of book thing. Go check it out if you haven't already.
I then exit to the North and end up in a very rainy, Rentalbud City. Or at least the route before Rentalbud, that has the flower shop and all that. I find a Pokemon in the grass, which happens to be a Misdreavous, name it Inky (the Blue ghost from Pac-Man), and go into the Flower Shop. Except I can't go in. The door is locked up. So I head north and look who I find among a maze of trees? Blitz! He says something along the lines of "HAHAHAHA, ITS FINALLY A GHOST TOWN." I come out of the shadows and ask "Blitz, whats going on?"
"Oh, its a survivor. Fear not, young one, I'll terminate you quickly. Then he engages with me in battle. His Trainer Title thing is Pokémon Threat BLITZ! Instead of Trainer. His Pokemon? Dark Lugia, Level 15. I'm not sure what this thing can do, but I don't like it already. I start off with my Marshtomp because it is raining, and hit him with a Water Gun. It does about 1/8th of his health. He whirlwinds me out into... Aron. I'm scared that he may have some sort of water move up his sleeve, so I switch back out in to Marshtomp as he decides to hit me with a Shadow Ball. It does 3 damage. I get Whirlwinded out into Oddish and I use Sleep Powder. It misses. Then he uses an attack called Dark Beam.
I live the hit with 4 HP to spare and my accuracy is dropped. Dear god I am scared right now. I sacrifice Red School (who only had 2 HP left) to another Dark Beam. First death of the project :< RIP Nincada
So then I bring in Marshtomp again to Water Gun and he Whirlwinds me out to my Tailow. I risk it and use Peck (which did next to nothing) while he swicthes me out again. I keep attacking with whatever he brings in until I crit him and bring him in to the red with a Water Gun from Jack. Next Turn: Dark Beam.
ITS A CRITICAL HIT!
I watch the HP scroll down, down, down, until it stops. At two. THANK GOD MARSHTOMP LIVES TO SEE ANOTHER DAY. I go for another Water Gun REALLY risking it and he Whirlwinds me out to Oddish, thank god. I go for the Sleep Powder, it hits, and I take the rest of his health in two turns with two Absorbs. That. Was. Scary.
After the match he storms off saying something like 'I'll get my revenge!' or soemthing. I go North some more and Celebi appears again, taking me against my will to a Place called the Time Hole. I catch a Lunatone there and name it TRANSFORMR (After the movie, 'The Dark of the Moon') I then reach the end of the path, and Celebi warps me back to the Bug Forest where I was when she started me on this weird stuff.
I exit the forest, get in a new area, and catch a Swablu. Not that I'll use it. I'll name it Rainbow because its a cloud thing and clouds go 'Somewhere over the Rainbow'
I go to Mr. Briney's house (which is apparently on that route) and sail down to a place that looks identical to Dewford, except that there is no Dewford cave and now there's a Route to the South. But first things first, I store Red School the Nincada in the PC entitled R.I.P. Goodbye Nincada D;
I head South now, and the first Pokemon on the route? EEVEE! iloveeeveessomuchi'msogladigotoneyesyesyesyes
So I catch it, name it Changeling (the one character from a set of Marvel Comics) because Eevee can change in to so many different forms.
I go down south some more, find the 6 magikarp guy, and run into a Tourist Welcomer or something. He asks if I like Grass, Water, or Fire the best. I chose Grass, and he gave me a Turtwig. I sadly couldn't name it, but now it has replaced Oddish on my team. That completes my team (until someone dies, of course). I'll go level grind these guys up and post this as soon as I'm done!
