Have You Ever Come Back To Win A Game After Being Down 6-1 (Prizes)?

I have and it happened recently. It was the best comeback I've ever had and I've been playing the Pokemon TCG for over 10 years. My opponent was playing a very fast {G} deck (Leafeon X, Sceptile, Shaymin X, etc.) and I was playing a hand manipulation deck (Giratina X, Empoleon X, Absol, etc.). I quickly went down 6-1, but as my opponent was picking up prizes faster than I could even inflict any significant damage, I was devising a strategy that would almost guarantee me a win.

I was trying to shrink my opponent's hand by playing Absol and Ambipom, while charging up Giratina. Unfortunately, my 2 Empoleon X weren't even a factor in this game because, with my luck, both Piplup were in my Prizes. Instead, my goal was to shrink my opponent's hand enough so once Giratina X was in play, my opponent would have no cards in his hand to discard in order to attack me; that's exactly what happened.

Giratina X came into play and, with his bench maxed out, I was able to spread 30 damage to all of his Pokemon. Next turn I KOed 3 of his benched Pokemon. The game was now 3-1. Because Ambipom left his active Pokemon with no Energy to attack, he was forced to attach an Energy from his hand to his active Pokemon, which happened to be the only card in his hand. He couldn't attack me because of Giratina X's Power. The following turn I KOed 2 more Pokemon at the same time and the game was tied 1-1. With just his active Pokemon in play (Sceptile) and Giratina X with full HP, his chances of winning the game was wearing thin. He attached another Energy but was not able to attack (0 cards in his hand). As we both saw it coming, I finished him off with Giratina X and won the game. He shook my hand, speechless, while shaking his head in disbelief of what had just taken place: the greatest comeback either of us had ever witnessed.

What's your greatest comeback?

I used Flygon/Palkia to simply stall the game against Gengar by constantly dragging out Claydol. My opponent couldn't take enough prizes in time and decked out at 6-2.

That's how it is with my games nowadays.

That's awesome! I could just imagine his frustration! I love decks that give you control over your opponent's set up.

Unless you play Unown Q, or a Kingdra deck, I can simply play that strategy with Flygon/Palkia. It's just cruel, but do I care? No.

I came back from pretty far down with my dusknior deck. I got down like 4 prizes but eveentuelly the spread got to him and I got like 4 kos in 1 turn and took the rest of the game.

I decked my opponent out with my (Unlimited) Flygon X/Moltres/Heatran X deck. Stalling and discarding cards from his deck ended the game pretty quickly, but I didn't pick up any prizes lol

Oh yes. Once at the Cities, I was playing some person with my Machamp deck, and I had the worst start ever! Baltoy, and a whole bunch of Energy and Machamp. I couldn't do anything. Soon, I got stuff out yet my opponent still easily got 5 prizes (my opponent had a great start-I couldn't setup in time.) Soon I KO'ed that Pokemon, and continued to KO upcoming Pokemon with some strong attacks. In the end, it actually came down to heads I win, tails I lose with Hurricane Punch. I'm not kidding with this either.

Yes, I remember at my First BR (my only BR :p) I was facing some girl who was playing the shaymin/ leafeon with torterra. So she brings up torterra against my empoleon deck. Yeah bad match up.

In no time she koed 2 empoleons and my claydol and uxie. Then I devised a plan. I bring out azelf as my 5th prize. By the time he is koed, I have a surf together empoleon with a full bench (uxie/ 2 unown G/ piplup and voltorb) I then surftogether her torterra and from there on lv X, supreme command and dominated and eventually won.

It was just amazing how a rogue deck beat quite a credible one

I can't remember any matches where I was down 6-1, but maybe when I was losing 6-3 or something. Some decks are better at making comebacks than others.

dmaster out.

I wonder who that was...

How can you be losing 6-1, doesn't that mean you lost, I think you mean 5-1.
But anyways, I've done it alot.
My best are
At Gen Con tournament, in juniors so like 3 years ago, I did it two games in a row. I was playing a slow Tyranitar EX deck and I was playing LBS. The lugia was anhilating me and knocked out like 3 of my pokes really quick, then they switched and ate me up with Blastiose. Finally though I got my T-Tar charged up and KO'd everything they had and won 6-5 after falling behind 5-0. That guy also said he was going to worlds too.
The next game was weird I was playing the same list but against a Mew EX deck which, really hurt me.Again once I got T-Tar set up I OHKO their entire list.
I also did it at GenCon when MT came out and I beat Plox with a Crawdaunt EX/Swampert EX rogue.
I've also done it several times against my lil' bro and when I play cards just prior to NEO, I'll do that to my dad's charizard deck once.
I haven't had a comeback like that in a while though:(

^ Plox wasnt out until SW, u said MT. And by 6-1 he means you have 6 and they have 1.
i dont know if it was 6-1, but i once came back at a BR using flygon against mamoswine GL. He ran out of energies, but he only had 1 prize, and a crobat G on bench, and i had a benched claydol w/ 70, but i wind eroded the last poketurn so he was 10 damage short. It was a GG though.

*cough*cough*I know who. -_-*cough*cough*

This wasn't 6-1 but I was a very close game. I was playing Machamp and my starting hand was Machop, 5 Energy and 1 Baltoy. Baltoy is on my bench while Machop is my active. I topdecked a PokeDrawer and decided not you use it. The next tun I topdeck another PokeDrawer. That made my day. After that I just sweeped due to her energy drought.

BTW: I was playing Typhlosion in that game.

at States (KS) I was running one variation of my AMU rogue (Mastermind: AMU, Darkrai X, Mewtwo X, Mightyena; and yes it works fairly well)...I ended up facing a Scizor/Sceptile/Landmin deck, wicked fast and with the lack of high HP in my deck it was a very devastating combo against my deck...he immediately jumped ahead and just kept going until I was able to build a lil' wall with Mewtwo X, by that time he was up about 4-0 and eventually knocked out Mewtwo which put him ahead 5-0

He has Sceptile, 2 Shaymin (one X'd w/Unown G) and about 3 Scizor ready to attack because of Sceptile...I had only minimally chipped away at his Scizors while he moved them around to keep them from getting KO'd...I finally got Azelf X out, and pulled him up when Mewtwo got knocked out...I Deep Balance'd aiming for the non-X shaymin to at least get a prize so I don't get shut out, and he makes a fatal mistake of sending the one that was X'd to the discard pile instead of the Shaymin I call'd (I'm not gonna say anything, it was his mistake and he knew he had Unown G on that X)...after that, I just started doing some moving around with my pokes, and just started knocking out his pokemon one by one until I took the last prize

he looked liked he hated himself for losing that match when he clearly had the upper hand and should have won...after the match we shook hands and he was so upset with himself he shook so hard our hands hit the table, but I wasn't holding it against him and he apologized, I told him it was ok, and told him where he made his mistake...that took my record to 3-0 before the break, but after the break, I suck'd gorilla nuts and ended the day at 3-3, the best record out of all my teammates...the deck just didn't wanna work the rest of the day

i was playing Gaydrill, and my opponent was playing Eeveelutions. I got the prize count down to 2-6, and then he started hitting snow cloak heads, KO, then another heads, and another, and another. THEN he changed it up by putting my beedrill to sleep, i got tails. he stalls, drags up my guys with Palkia, more heads, and wins. It was horrible.

^^ That was your obligation as the opponent to point out their mistake. You should have said something, SoTG.

i was Playing Mercury at a cities my last year as a senior. My opponent was playing mewtric. They took 5 prizes on me, i drop rayquaza*, move holon's magneton and an energy to it, drop a 2nd magneton onto him and use his attack for 12 prizes and the game.

I had a match yesterday where I was playing Speedgar, while my opponent Flychamp. I got a good start to his bad one, then I started to take about 4 prizes, then he played his SW trapinch to drag out my claydol for the rest of the game. He finally leveled it up to Flygon and discarded my whole deck because I couldn't do anything, not even retreat my claydol.
