So I was looking back at the old sets and popular decks. Since BW-On is the first format I've EVER played competitively I was thinking about making two of the oldest decks I could think of that were popular (Haaymaker & probably CSS or Raindance). So let's get to it:

Pokemon: 20
4x Hitmonchan Base 7
4x Electabuzz Base 20
4x Magmar Base 36
3-2-3 Dark Vileplume Team Rocket 13

Trainers: 25
3x Computer Search
3x Item Finder
3x Plus Power
2x Gust of Wind
2x Switch
3x Super Energy Removal
4x Prof. Oak
3x Bill
2x Pokemon Breeder

Energy: 15
3x Rainbow Energy
4x Fighting
4x Fire
4x Lightning

I'm also not very sure what were considered the "Good" cards at the time for this deck so any help would be very appreciated as I am not familiar with these sets at all.

I would say to make it a third gust, limit your vileplume line to something as a late game drop it, or just remove it entirely, make the super energy removals into regular ones, you want your energies hanging around. Scyther from... Jungle? Yeah, jungle. also printed in base set 2, but it's a fantastic lead for this deck. Also, you have more pokemon than energies, so you will definitely need energy retrieval. Think about spliting your magmar line between base set and fossil set too. depending on what you decide with your vileplume line, you can increase your energy count, or your trainer count, but other than that, looks solid. Sorry if I said a lot, but it's based on my experience with the deck all those years ago.

Have fun with this classic. :D

Hm, I've never made a Haymaker deck with Base Magmar (Fossil Magmar maybe). Very rarely have I included any evolution cards in this deck, the exception being Jungle Jigglypuff and Wigglytuff. Jungle Scyther is a decent addition, as well as Base Machop. I don't think I played Haymaker by the time the TR set came out, so I played much earlier variations of the deck. The Trainers you've listed are all solid cards. Like Regi said, if you want the energy removals in, I'd replace SER with regular ER. Pokemon Trader is also a good one to have with this deck.
