Well, Galactic's Conquest marks the release of 3 massively awesome old school Pokeymanz that were once a top-tier archetype. A force to be feared. Don't mess with no Hitmonchan, or he'll jab ya in the eye! Don't laugh at Scyther, or you'll feel the punch of last turn's Sword's Dance! Just don't mess with Electabuzz or he'll show off with his attacks with actual effects! And for sure don't try anything funny while Bill's around, or your opponent might just get that energy! And Pluspower - don't wanna go there!

It's funny how much the game has changed. Once an archetype, now not at all playable - Weird, hey?

RE: Haymaker!

Well, those were earlier in those days:
80 hp was decent
50+ damage for three was awesome...
And stuff like that. Now we can't even settle with Kingdra whose does 60 for one energy.

RE: Haymaker!

3 energy? Where in the world are you...

Oh, you mean the two discards? No, I've ignored that.

RE: Haymaker!

yea i always discard 2 energy as it help with aqua stream, always use it to finish off my opponents :D, especially wen i have 4 cards left in my deck and they think im going to deck out

RE: Haymaker!

Most of the attacks of the old Base Set pokes and around them followed an energy cost to damage ratio of:

A specific energy would be 15 damage.
A colourless would be 10 damage.
A flip for paralysis is like multiplying the base damage by 1.5

e.g. Hitmonchan's Special Punch follows this, Scyther's Slash attack follows this, and Electabuzz's first attack follows this (10 (base damage) x 1.5 (it was a flip to paralyse) = 15 (it took 1 specific energy to pull it off).

Of course they weren't all like this, but yeah.
