HG:SS is cool

For those of you that don't know, a power creep is where the cards get better and better, and that's what's been happening in Pokemon so far.

looking at the new HGSS pokemon (not the trainers, just the pokemon), most of them wouldn't stand up to the format we have now, except maybe donphan and a few others. I predict a HG:SS-On format at some stage (it's a bit weird having normal trainers and "goods" in the format at the same time) and I think it'll be nice again to have less-good cards for a change and to have a slower metagame without the 0/1-energy-for-a-billion-damage-cards nowadays.

Idk why but i just really like the idea of it. The idea of a Typhlosion deck built around using fire spin multiple times with ninetales to draw cards and discard so Great Typhlosion can use it's poke-power or a feraligatr deck with delibird as a starter and starmie as an alternate attacker seems really cool to me. I think the reason this appeals to me is these cards have SYNERGY. Look at the decks nowadays. None of the cards have real synergy. The decks are very fast. A HG:SS-On format would be a nice break from the current metagame. Though it will be a long time coming.

discuss!

Thats mainly the reason why we guys in Croatia play unlimited format... Metagame slower, longer duels, funier to play ;)

Metagame SLOWER? You mean T1 80 spread is SLOW?

And well, HGSS keeps some power for low energy decks. Just look at Donphan and Jumpluff.

And theres Great Ursaring and Slowking, Clairvoyance to rearrange the cards and hammer arm to discard them it's another Primape/Chatot.

I like what's happening to the metagame. It's slowly returning to its slower stages, but there are a few exceptions.

There's a lot of cards that while may not be amazing cards on their own, they're amazing in pairs. Like Charizard PA and Ninetales HGSS. Or Great Ursaring and Unown P. There's plenty of combos in this set.

Unown P kinda sucks, I'd rather go with either Rainbow Energy or let Great Ursaring take a hit. Also Ninetales HG/SS is a great addition to Charizard AoA since it's firetype not like Claydol.

Don't get too excited yet guys. 80 for 4 folds to 80 for 1-2, so we'll have to wait for the format to rotate before this happens. But I'm looking forward to this.

not to mention Double Colorless, which puts a lot of the slower decks up to par with garbage like Gengar and Machamp.

^True, but it's pretty easy to tech against that. If everything was using it (like 2 formats ago), we'd be seeing things like Scizor MD and Shuckle SW, even though it's not all that easy to counter it. I do think that it makes them almost even in speed.
