HGSS-On (With NV) Cobalion/Fossil Lock.

This deck is pretty skeleton but it seems like a great idea since all the decks this format seem to be based around stage 1 and 2 techs. So this deck is to stop Evolutions from happening while stopping them from attacking.

Pokemon (17)
1 Cleffa
2 Jirachi
3 Skarmory
4 Cobalion (Iron Breaker)
4-3 Archeops

T/S/S (30)
1 Switch
2 Pokemon Collector
2 Twins
2 Pokemon Catcher
3 Eviolite
4 Junk Arm
4 Pokemon Communication
4 Professor Oak's New Theory
4 Plume Fossil
4 Research Record

Energy (13)
3 Psychic Energy
4 Steel Energy (Special)
6 Steel Energy (Regular)

Only running 2 Collectors for the fact that Archen can't be brought out normally so it's not as useful in this deck.
Running full line of Communications to shuffle Archens and Archeops back into the deck since they can't be brought out normally.
Jirachi is there in case I can't get Archeops out fast enough.
Skarmory is to get special metal on Cobalion faster. Cleffa is for hand replenish or refresh in case I get archen or archeops in my hand and baby wall so I can set up Cobalion.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Although I want Archeops to work, my favorite new pokemon, sadly the new fossil method is just terrible. And I think if they get their Vileplume out before you can get an Archen on the bench, which will probably happen, then you have already lost. BUT running this deck or not wasnt your question, so this is what I would do.

- 4 DCE, you dont really need it, the only one who can make use of this is Zekrom, everything else that can use it shouldnt be attacking.
- 1-2 Archeops, since you can only have one active at a time, I dont see the reason to go 4-4. Only Max Archen and Plume are needed.
- 2 Rescue, You dont need them.

+ 1 Skarmory, he seems to be the card you want to start with
+ 1 Cleffa or Manaphy, preference.
+ Jirachi, to DeEvolve any pokemon that managed to get evolved before your Archeops took the bench.
+ 3 Psychic for said Jirachi
+ 2 Alph Lithograph Two

I know Alph Lithograph Two sounds like a dead card, but if you use Plume Fossil and do not find Archen, you could use AL2 to shuffle your deck then if you have another Plume Fossil in your hand you could use it again, instead of waiting for the next oak you come across, and you may not even get a Plume in your hand then.

Plume Fossil shuffles the deck anyway... AL2 is a dead card... Put in Research Record instead. That way if a Archen does pop up on top, you can put it on the bottom.

I'm running 4 research record already.
Made some minor adjustments.

Translations for these cards aren't needed anymore now that they're on the main page.

Anyways, I'd try to increase your Collector count. Although you can't search out for Plume Fossil, being able to consistently get out Cobalion and Skarmory to setup is important. One Collector and three Communication won't cut it.

I keep bouncing from this deck to my Cobalion/Vileplume. I honestly can't decide which one to run. But I did make some edits to this deck last night

Just so you know, apparently Rare Candy bypasses Ancient Power. So the only way to make the most of Ancient Power is against a Stage1 deck or with Vileplume. This is news to me as well, since I thought Ancient Power stopped candy evolutions as well. Should probably go with your Cobalion Vileplume deck instead or create a whole new Vileplume Archeops deck.

Hey im disappointed too. I have a really fun Archeops deck I have been toying with, but gonna take it apart if rare candy really does over rule Ancient Power. In my opinion I think it shouldn't because what rare candy does is almost word for word what Ancient Power is suppose to stop, and in Japan Ancient Power does in fact stop Rare Candy. The professors here stated rare candy still over rules Ancient Power but they all do not seem to know 100% so do not take apart your Archeops build just yet.
