if holon circle's in play, i then use t tar ex's shatter/ magcargo's knock over, will the atk work? it says discard any stadium card in play~

i agree because it clearly states on the Holon Circle card that it prevents all effects of attacks, including damage, etc. So it cancels out the get rid of stadium effect. As for the damage...you could say that it gets redircted to destroy the stadium. Oh, and things like fury swipes that you have to flip multiple tims for, ony count as one attack.
There are only 3 ways to discard Holon Circle in this format:
1) Attack. The attack will fail, and Holon Circle will be discarded.
2) Windstorm. You can choose a tool attached to one of your opponent's monsters as well. You can even discard your own Holon Circle with it, which may be useful if you need to attack.
3) Crush Chance. EX: CG Tauros is a good all-purpose card, and its PokéPower rocks. It can search for basics, and it can thrash gyms. It doesn't work when Cessation Crystal is in effect, though. Still, a great card for your deck if you want to cut down on countergyms.
