Holon Engine Alternative?

Is there a stable card drawing trainer alternative to using the Holon Engine? Not only are Transcievers extremely difficult to get, but some decks just can't handle discarding to draw for other effects. I also think that younger kids (8 and under) might have a harder time deciding what to get with the Holon Engine's choices, whereas straight draw is simple enough for them to understand.

Well, if you're looking for non-Holon cards that are popular, try these out:

-TV Reporter (draw 3, discard 1 from hand)
-Mary's Request (draw 3 if no Stage 2 Pokemon in play)
-Bill's Maintenance (for Deoxys/Unown decks mainly)
-Holon Adventurer (draw 4 if you discard a δ Pokemon, 3 if not)
-Island Hermit (draws one less than the others but you get to flip 2 prizes over)

You'd be surprised at how well kids that young can comprehend what they need to get. If they are taught what to look for first by an older sibling or another player, they can easily climb to the top of their rankings. Of course, like I mentioned, it's the big brothers/sisters/parents that help the thinking along.

yep, exactly. They would always seek some help from the elders. transceiver? no problem, they'll just cry like a baby and their parents would give them money to buy it.

IMO holon engine is superb. when u get tranceiver, it's like getting into a transport central. Then u decide what to use according to the situation.
normal draws cant do these, they cant really help u to set up as good as holon engine did.

Closest stable thing that can get you what you want is DX Magcargo with his Smooth Over. I liked using him with CG Swampert. Let him bring a TV Reporter to the top, then next turn draw, place another TV Reporter on top and you're set.

I'd say castaway tools. It gets you 1 stadium, 1 supporter and 1 tool, probably strengh charm/ sitruis/lum/fluffy berry. A staduim like bf or holon circle is disruptive, and you can also have another supporter, probably another castaway.

I was kind of thinking about a draw engine that didn't use the holon setup. Something like 4x Prof. Oak's, 4x Copycat, 4x Fieldworker (or TV Reporter), and Holon Mentor to help setup. Would 12 card drawing Trainers be enough in an average cometitve deck? I understand that the Holon Engine is better because of the searchability for the trainer you need, but I'm hoping refreshing your hand with many cards will offset the inability to pick and choose which trainer you need right now. Castaway sounds like a possiblity, but since it's a supporter itself you have to play a turn behind and it kind of requires at least a few tools to make the most of it (which is not necessarily a bad thing).

Professor Nanakamado ? Trainer Card (Supporter)
Choose 1 card from your hand, set it aside, and shuffle the rest of the cards into your deck. Then, draw 4 cards. You can?t play this card if it?s the only card in your hand.

Speed Stadium ? Trainer Card (Stadium) Once during his or her turn, each player may flip a coin until he or she gets tails. For each heads, the player draws 1 card from his or her deck.

these two should be good

BTW holon engine isnt that hard to use.

want some good set up? go for mentor

want boost/scramble/GL/FF/WP ? call lass

want some random draw power? have adventurer

ur opponent have a lot more cards than u do? ok, scientist!

decking out?? farmer once and ur rdy to continue

Well actually, a Holon engine also has a big problem. When it's Holon Transciever has been disabled, it's reduced to a normal trainer line.
Dragonite ex DF / Manectric ex DX - They both have an attack that disables the use of trainers [except supporters].
Houndoom UF - It has an amazing pokebody that disables the use of trainers on the oponents side if you have less Pokemon than your opponent in play.
~ P.S. Houndoom is one of the biggest threats to a Holon Engine. Being almost assured that you will put Holon Mentor in a Holon Engine, and Holon Engines are mostly used on decks that needs big set-ups or needs different types of Pokemon to work, rest assured, Houndoom's Pokebody has a 90% chance to work. [Unless the one with Houndoom UF is winning :p]

Same here but discarding all those cards is very.. difficult.

If you need an alternative, I've been toying around with Scott on lots of tests yesterday. Dig it up with CG Mawile, use it to nab a Stadium, a second Scott and a supporter of your choice, play out that second Scott next turn to nab some more stuff (Perhaps even a third Scott if you're feeling bold), and you have a swiss army knife in your hands. In the meanwhile that same Mawile can search out your normal trainers and tools.

Looking at Scott, I think that seems to be the best choice to stablize getting trainers (without a transiever). Maybe a combination of Castaway and Scott could form the basis for a Trainer engine where you could have many smaller amounts of cards that do different things. Unfortunately, it is slower than the Holon Engine and once you use something it's gone. The benfit, however, is you can get non-Holon named Supporters along with Stadiums or Tools, also Houndoom doesn't affect you as much.
