Ruling holon wp (again...)

well i know holon wp on a benched pokemon prevents it from taking sniping attacks like ice blade (at least it was what someone told me)
but some other guy said it prevents effects, NOT DAMAGE
by that thinking it doesn't prevent a benched pokemon from being "sniped"

If the attack says "Put damage counters", Holon WP prevents it. If the attack says "Does x damage", Holon WP will not prevent it.
So, no. Holon WP does not prevent damage done to the pokemon on the bench with Holon WP attached to it.
