If I have Holon WP attached to 1 of my Pokemon along with a water energy, would special conditions be classified under "effects"?
What else is also classified under effects?

If you get them as the result of an attack.
Placing damage counter like Gallade or forced switching out ect.
 
Speical conditions are effects of attacks (unless originating from a power, ect.). However, it would not remove any current special conditions/effects on you when you play it on the pokemon (or play the water if the WP is on it already).
 
Everything else other than pure damage like flare up and inferno onrush is effects. Examples are like switching, special conditions, removing energy etc.
