RE: Next review: Holon's Castform

Well, what's there to say, not much really, it is an energy and a pokémon... well, here goes nothing:
THE CARD
50HP: decent, normal basic HP
type colourless: well, no that it matters, cause it can't attack
His attack: very useful in delta deck, this makes him a very good starter,
W, R and RC: well, nothing to say here, not bad.
Holon effect: NICE, now we have 3 holon energies.
overall: a decent card, I can see it being a good starter, also because if you don't need it anymore, is doesn't have to stay in your like other starter, no, just attach it to one of your pokémon.

DECKS
- Delta decks: as a starter, and to get those precious metal energies back into your hand. It's a very good starter, cause you can draw up to 5 cards without having to shuffle your hand back into your deck.
- LBS: well, as another magtrode, but .. yeah, it's basic, so when you start with it, you have to put it in play.
- power tree using decks: well, it's not an energy when in the discard pile, but, again, ... basic

well, not much to say about this card, it's a simple, not so special basic

that's all I can think of, the card seems good, but I would rather have a review on those fun new HP cards.

RE: Next review: Holon's Castform

Holon's Castform

Positive:
-It's a basic you can search for it with holon mentor when needed
-In a deck with only basic energys and Holon's Castform, power tree can be used
-Can be attached to pokemon ex

Negative:
-It's a basic pokemon ,so when it's the only one in your first 7 cards you have to put it active
And if so..it's an easy prize for your opponent

Overall: Small review for a card that has a small influence on the trading card game...
Holon's Electrode and Holon's Magneton will probably remain the most popular ones.

Good card but there are better options: 6/10

RE: Next review: Holon's Castform

Hiya,

Today’s COTW is about a card from Holon Phantoms, which is Holon’s Castform. This card has already been widely used, even though Holon Phantom is still new to the Pokemon players. This card has a lot of potential to me…Let’s see the card.

Holon Castform

HP: 50
-A decent hp for a basic, but could’ve reached 60, since it’s a non-evolved basic.

Attacks:

[C] Delta Draw
-For one energy, Delta Draw lets you draw one card for each delta species Pokemon you have in play. That’s maximum of 5 cards, with full bench. Why not 6? Because, Holon Castform’s Delta Draw does not count itself. Holon Castform is not a delta Pokemon…Remember that.

Ability:
-Becomes 2 energy cards that provide every types. Ah…We have Holon Electrode, Holon Magneton and now Holon Castform. If you want to use Pokemon with this Ability just for the sake of using the ability, think carefully. We’ll get into that later.

Weakness: [F]
-50 Hp…Wouldn’t last very long with a lot of Medicham and Machamp decks around.

Retreat cost: [C]
-Affordable, decent for a basic.

Decks using Holon Castform:

Full Delta Decks
-Castform works very well as a starting Pokemon for delta decks. Furthermore, you can use it as an energy, since delta Pokemon needs multiple elements.

Semi Delta Decks
-Semi delta decks means, decks that uses their Stage 1 and Basic as their delta forms. Same as Full Delta decks, Castform helps you draw more cards, but not really for long.

Final Rating:
Unlimited:  1/10
Since I’ve never saw people play delta in unlimited, I have to say, Castform is useless.

Modified: 6/10
Mostly used for delta decks…If you want to use Castform just for it’s ability, you’re better off with Holon’s Magneton or Holon’s Electrode.

That’s all for today’s Card Of the Week. Hope to see you again,

Cya.

RE: Next review: Holon's Castform

So, what a surprise, looks like we have to review Holon's Castform for this week's COTW. It is a card that was released in the recent Set, Holon Phantoms.
I'll make this a good one.

Stages of Evolution

Another Basic pokemon, which means you'll be able to put into play and actually attack. The downside is, If you start with it, you'll have to play it. Especially in a deck with NO delta pokemon, means bad starting.

Hit Points

50 HP for a basic is normal and quite solid for a basic. I mean, Feebas and Magikarp, even a digglet has only 30 HP and some other basic like Eevee from the Unseen Forces has only 40 HP. So, having 50 HP is good enough for this pokemon.

Attack ( Delta Draw )

Here's Holon's Castform's attack, Delta Draw:-

(C) Delta Draw

Count the number of pokemon you have in play that has δ on its card. Draw Up to that many cards.

- So, it has a solid attack which allows you to draw cards. Not too shabby for a Basic pokemon, especially in a deck that are filled with δ pokemon.

Drawing 5 cards at the beginning can end with a good gameplay. But here's the good part, people have been asking me:-

Q: Why do I draw only 5, but not 6 since Holon's Castform is a δ pokemon???
Q: Is Holon Castform a δ pokemon???

A: No, because there is no δ and the word Delta Species beside the pokemon's name, therefore it is not a δ pokemon.

* If you read my thread in the TCG Discussion Section, you should know about it.

Type

Being a Colourless type doesn't really matter here as Holon's Castform's attack can't do damage. Therefore, Having a Colourless type won't really hurt it much.

Weakness, Resistance and Retreat Cost

Well, having Fighting Weakness really hurts with the increasing of Fighting decks like T2 Yama, T2 Medicham and even LM Machamp to name a few. Having NO Resistance AT ALL is worse than actually having one. Being a ' Light' and Floating pokemon, 1 Retreat Cost is suitable for it.

Energy Effect

To use the effect, you must have an energy attached to the pokemon you want to attach it to. When attached, Holon's Castform counts as two energy of ANY type. So, I call it " Double Rainbow Bounce Energy" as it does the same as DRE and Bounce energy.

This card ONLY being a Special Energy ONLY when it is in play, becomes one of this card's Pros. This is so because it ables you to take a basic energy in your discard pile to your hand by using power tree. You can also search for it with PETM and Celio's Network as it counts as a pokemon  when NOT in play.

Decks that can use Holon's Castform

A) Meta-Nite

It can be used for both a starter Pokemon, or Energy. Being a deck with A lot of δ pokemon really boosts Holon's Castform's attack. Metagross δ also needing a Metal and a Lightning energy to attack also serves the purpose to use Holon's Castform.

B) Sala-Gross

It has almost the same concept with using it in a Meta-Nite deck, except, you can use Holon's Castform to become a Metal energy also helps Salamence δ to attack for 100.

C) LBS

Well, Holon's Castform Having the same effect with Holon's Mag/Trode also helps the LBS deck. But, Holon's Castform being a Basic pokemon can TOTALLY trouble the starting of a LBS deck.

Ratings

Unlimited : 1/10

Well, Ever see a Meta-nite deck in unlimited???  I don't think so.

Neo Genesis-on : 2/10

Again, Meganium and Typhlosion decks are most popular here, so the players won't bother.

R/S-on : 6/10

Blaziken, Swampert, Sceptile, Gardevoir and other deck won't use Holon's Castform. But it can still be useful as energy.

HL-on : 8/10

Loads of δ decks here. Therefore, players should take it into a count.

So, that's all for my COTW, for this week. I hope you like my review above.

RE: Next review: Holon's Castform

Okay, the next review is Holon’s Castform from EX Holon Phantoms.  Now this card before its release was having a lot of buzz going around as the next “Holon’s Magnetrode.”  But, once it was released we realized that it was a Basic and if we start with it, it will not work unless being played in a Delta Deck.  Well here’s the review.

The Card:
The card is good because of it’s special power to be used as a “new age” DRE.  Being like Holon’s Electrode and Magneton by power, it is used primarily in Delta Decks and in decks such as LBS.
Its HP is average for a Basic Pokemon at 50, nothing to get excited about.
It has an attack that can be useful, but only if you are desperate or running a Delta Deck.  The attack states that for each Pokemon that has the delta symbol on your side of the field you may draw up to that many cards, which can be very useful.
He is a Colorless Pokemon that is weak to Fighting, which almost always is what happens.  He has one retreat cost, which is not great but okay for a Basic.

Advantages:
The advantage of this card is for specific situations, but can prove to be very useful at times.
His attack is very good in a Delta Deck, but is a basic-which makes it hard for any other type of deck to run more than one copy of him.  The only deck I can think of that would even dare to do this is LBS, which really needs Holon Pokemon, but I believe that they should stick to Holon Magnetrode, because it is a lot better in the deck.

Disadvantages:
Well what can I say; he’s a basic Pokemon.  Like I’ve said this entire Review, if you aren’t running a Delta Deck or LBS, try to stick to Magnetrode.
He also has a bad Weakness currently, but he’s Colorless so that’s pretty much what he’ll always be weak to.
He has a single retreat cost, which isn’t horrible, but it isn’t great for a Basic Pokemon either.

Analysis:
Well since it’s a Castform, he can’t evolve.  But if he could’ve, I would have made him an Evolution like the rest of the Holon Pokemon.
He should also have another attack besides Delta Draw, maybe something like Tackle at CC for 20 as a solid attack or something like that, so he won’t be so bad if you start with him.
I’d have also made his Retreat Cost 0 because, I don’t know what it is, but it just seems like he needs to have a Free Retreat Cost.

Overall:
Well that’s Holon’s Castform for you in my eyes.  I give the card a 6.5/10, because he’s only a Holon Pokemon that’s good for certain situations.  See ya next time.

RE: Next review: Holon's Castform

It's time for the next review.

Holon's Castform

The Card

It's a basic pokemon with 50HP, one attack, weakness to fighting, no resistance, one retreat cost, and a very special ability.

The attack works great in pure Delta decks that can get basics out fast as with Holon Mentor or Lanette's Net Search so Holon's Castform can draw up to 5 cards within the first few turns of the game.

The ability it has is the same as the Holon's Electrode and Magneton with the exception that the Castform is a basic and the other two are evolutions.

Analysis

The great thing about this card is that you can get it with so many different trainers like Holon Mentor, Lanette's Net Search, Great Ball, and even Celio's Network. When it gets knocked out or discarded you can use Pokemon Retriever to bring it back or to shuffle a few of them back into your deck. And since it doesn't count as a special energy when in the discard pile it can work with Power Tree.

Combo's

It works great in any Delta decks such as Metanite, Tyranimence, and any newer Delta decks, it also works good in BSL and any Mew ex decks.

Rating

It's a very useful card and it works in a lot of different decks, the only downside I see is that it's a basic pokemon, other than that it's a good card.

RE: Next review: Holon's Castform

HOLON CASTFORM

stats- 50 HP is normal for a basic pokemon. Colorless is fine. Its weakness SUX! Retreat cost of 1 is normal.

attack- only useful if you play a deck heavy with delta starting pokemon.

Deck Analysis- Its pretty easy to get out since you can use Mentor, Celios, etc. I would only run 2 (this doesn't apply for delta decks). The holon effect is great, 2 energy.

Metagame- This affects the metagame but not severely, a lot of the best decks use it. (Mynx,Jynx-offet etc.)

Overall - Overall its a pretty good card, I would use it.
Rating- 7/10

RE: Next review: Holon's Castform

Here is another card to be reviewed, Holon’s castform from ex: holon phantoms. First of all, we shall take a look at its attribute. It has 50 hp, a retreat cost and weakness to fighting, which all are standard for a basic colorless pokemon. Other than that, its delta draw attack can have you to draw cards equal to the number of delta pokemon in your field. So, it is useful in the early game if you have all delta pokemon filled in your bench. Besides that, Holon’s Casatform also has same ability as Holon’s Magneton and Holon’s Electrode. Its ability states that instead of attach an energy card; you may attach Holon’s Castform from your hand as an energy card. However, you need to return an energy card attached to that pokemon back into your hand. When Holon’s Castform is attached as energy, it provides every type of energy but two energies at a time. Thus, this ability is useful when you an energy card, but have none in your hand. Another benefit from this card is Holon’s Castform is an uncommon card compared to Holon’s Magneton and Holon’s Electrode.

Being a pokemon that provides energy is fantastic. It is because you do not need energy search trainers in your deck anymore. All you need is pokemon searcher such as Holon mentor, Celio’s network, dual ball, etc. Therefore, you will save many spaces for other cards. Furthermore, you do not need energy charge, energy retriever to get back energy, a pokemon retriever will do.

In current format, it works best with deck that plays with pure or major delta pokemon in it. Metanite is one of the examples. Moreover, Beldum d has free retreat cost if you have another Beldum on your bench. So even you start with Beldum d, you can use Holon mentor to search for another Beldum d and Holon Castform then switch with Holon Castform and start drawing. Since, Holon’s Castform provides every type of energy; you may attach it to Metagross d to meet the energy type requirement. Yet, if you are not playing with major delta or pure delta, then you should consider Holon’s magneton or Holon’s Electrode instead. Nevertheless, the downside of this card is that it is not a delta pokemon. So you cannot draw a card if you do not have any delta pokemon in your bench.

All in all, it is a good starter and a good provider. However, Holon’s Castform only works for certain decks.  So I would give this cute little Castform a rating of 6 out of 10. See you next time. Cheers.
