Ruling Honedge Damage Counter Value

Hello,
I'm brand new to Pokemon TCG, in fact Pokemon in general. Concerning the Honedge card, the Stab attack states "Put 1 damage counter on your opponent's Active Pokemon." When I first read that, I thought that it meant 1x10 damage. Reading the card carefully, though, I realize that it doesn't state the value of the damage counter. This would mean that I can put whatever damage counter I want on the opponent's Active Pokemon, and so I would put a 100 damage counter.

Once it becomes Doublade, the "Stab Deeply" attack allows for 3 damage counters. I only have 1 x 100 damage counter and 2 x 50 damage counters, which means I can do 200 HP damage with Doublade? Am I reading this correctly? If so, this card is way too OP!

Moved from the TCG Help & Advice to the Ask a Professor as the OP is looking clarification on card rules. ~bbninjas

One damage counter is 10 damage. Placing counters is different than doing damage, which is why it was worded that way.
