you evolve from a Pikachu...
the cards that are Stage 2 dark pokemon (ex Dark Dragonite, Dark Tyranitar) have to be evolved from their dark previous stages (ex Dark Dragonair, and Dark Pupitar), but stage 1's (ex Dark Raichu, Dark Arbok) evolve from normal pokemon, so Pikachu evolves into Dark Raichu, and Ekans evolves into Dark Arbok.

ya, there has only been 1 basic dark pokemon, and it cant evolve anyways... Dark Celebi.
All basic form pokemon (with the exception of Celebi) are neutral, when they evolve, they can gain a character trait (Dark or Light)
