I might tbe going to lcq this year if i dont do good at nationals. I know some of my friends have passed it and competed in worlds. So im wondering how hard is it to pass the last chance qualifier stage. ALso does anyone know what good decks to bring to the lcq?

Im in seniors BTW

I am also coming to San Diego to try to grind into the worlds. Unfortunately, that is my only chance to qualify for worlds cause here in Croatia we don`t have nationals :(. I think Javier it is very hard to say now which deck to bring at lcq cause the meta will change a lot I think, but I will stay with my new deck, almost definitely. Good that my bro is playing Donphan so Luxray GL lv.x can just cry in front of him :p.

i am also going to try to grind in if i dont do good at nats/regs/states. these are the decks that im assuming will be good

gengar/lost world
SP
machamp

with the occassional rogues here and there. im going to be working on a way to counter them all when we get closer. i also know it will be a challenge to get in.

Well you can already assumd it's going to be very hard to grind into worlds, however no one can really guess what decks will be good because we still have 3 sets yet to be released not taking in consideration any random promo card that may alter the meta.

The best thing you can do is just try and keep upto date with the meta from now till June so you can see what new decks and techs alter the format then make your deck choice based from that.

are you really trying to predict the metagame for WORLDS next year?

people are having a hard time doing that for even battle roads. :/

It depends which division your in...Last years LCQ in san diego had over 1,000 in masters about 3-5 hundred seniors and I think 2-4 hundred juniors. The only real way to measure your chances is to test yourself in BR, City, State, Regionals, and BR before worlds. You dont have to win every one, because if you did you wouldnt have to play LCQ, but if your getting top cut on most of them, then I would say yes. I also see that you are from canada so if you are planning to travel to san diego with the intention of getting an invitation then I wouldn't be so hopeful. I would come to have fun and enjoy the environment. When I went last year I came to get an invitation. My day felt ruined because I went 4-4, but the next day when I came for the side events I had way more fun and wished I would have just done that instead of play the LCQ.

No. i want to know how hard it is or easy it is to pass last chance qualifier.

Well, when it was here in Florida, the LCQ was split into 2 flights with 4 invites each. There was about 500 players per flight. So less than 1% made it in, with some of the biggest names in Pokemon. The LCQ is easily one of the most difficult tournaments in the world.

You don't "pass" the qualifier, you win a tournament to get an invite. The process is tough, and by no means should you expect to make it into Worlds on your first time in the Grinder.

I would imagine it to be diffucult, w/ less than 1 or 2% making it. But if you get hot/test a lot you can make it.
But for instance in Masters this year 2 former world champions were in the grinder(Jason K and Tsuguyoshi Y) w/ a combined 3 world titles(4 if you count that mega tropical battle thing) so it's not easy. I'd try to get an invite through ratings/rankings instead and play good the whole year, prolly easier, but just my opinion
