When Reshiram and Zekrom were first introduced, I was absolutely certain that we were going to get a new light type. Yet now, I believe the two have been confirmed as dragon fire, and dragon electric. I'm fairly certain about the fire and electric, and I know that it was said that they are dragons, but were they described as being dragon type? Also, there is speculation that they may be able to change type, and I wouldn't be too surprised if they had formes. What do you think? Is there still any chance for a new light type?

Their types are confirmed as Dragon/Fire and Dragon/Electric, and there are no new types.

No new types, and that's just the way it is. A light type would be introduced first, and it wasn't, so it isn't.

Yes, CoroCoro confirmed them to be Dragon/Fire and Dragon/Electric

And not to imply that I want new types (I don't) but when was it ever confirmed that we wouldn't have any new types?

Is it just me or could the 3rd legendary be Ground/Dragon since Ground beats both Electric and Fire ... am just throwing a wild guess ...

This has nothing to do with the topic of the thread - this thread is to discuss whether there's a chance for a Light-Type to be introduced. ~Xous

I don't see anything wrong with them releasing new types, they did it in gen2 so why is it any different now? Don't let anyone get you down, none of the Gen 2 legendaries had the new types. So maybe it won't be a Light type, maybe they could have an Air type or -insert other type here because I'm too lazy to think of one. I'm pretty sure we've all heard the rumour about the designs of 1000 pokemon already being made, this means that even before gen1 they had the ideas for dark and steel type pokemon, perhaps there are more types that go along with the original 1000 designs.

The thing is, if they don't add the light type with the introduction of BLACK and WHITE version, where the legendarie's theme is YING and YANG, in order to be the opposite of dark, then they probably never will. And if they never add light type, the MOST likely type for addition, they they'll never add any other types either.

Never say never. They might add it in other generations. There still might be a possibility for this to actually be added (I doubt it highly). Though light might be introduced in a different generation. They may add other types as well.

Just because Reshiram or Zekrom aren't light types doesnt mean anything. In generation 2 none of the legendaries were dark or steel but the new types still came. dont lose hope:)

^That is totally true. We didn't see a Steel Legendary 'till 3rd Gen, and we first encountered Dark Legendary in the form of Darkrai until 4th Gen. We only know 14 of all of 5th Gens Pokemon. When G/S/C were released, just how obvious were the Dark and Steel type? I say there is hope for a Light type, especially since there is a 'sky theme in the games, specifically the lightening or darkening of it'.

I think there is a chance for any kind of new type, if not light.

^So you're saying that just because one Pokemon isn't Light-type you think none of about 150+ will be?

No, it's just that Reshiram seemed the most lkely candidate for the light-type.

But it would be more of a surprise if they revealed a pokemon that looked like a light type(Reshiram), to not be one and later reveal a pokemon as a light type that we would not have suspected.
Plus that doesnt even matter, everyone thought Zekrom would be a dark type, well it wasn't and that doesnt mean they are dropping dark types. So why should it mean there is no chance of having a light type?

Tell me again what Light-type would be effective/not very effective against again?

Because the ONLY people seem to be saying it is because there is a Dark-type, which was made to balance out the overpowered status of RBY's Physics.

Dark-Type != Darkness, but in the case of pokemon, it usually means being deceiving, cheating, and tricky.

I think between {R}{L} and {P} we have the whole "Light" thing covered.

I see where you're getting at, though when I think of Light Type I think of good spirits, not in the sense that they make things brighter.
