I'm just starting to get back into Pokemon again, and I'm wondering if it's going to hurt my wallet. How much do you guys usually spend, say, in one year on Pokemon cards? I have a small income but nothing that gives me a ton of extra spending money.

... you'll get varying answers as it all depends on the deck you want to make, or if you want to buy tons of cards and build a deck from that...
 
Depends on what you like to do. I think it's somewhere around this...
Focus on one deck by going to PRs and trading: <40 euros
Same, but by buying the loose cards: 60 euros?
Focus on one deck by buying loose boosters and trading: >100 euros
Just collecting and trading first, then see which decks you can build: anything between 0-infinity, but probably pretty expensive.
 
I spend a like around 200$ a year. I usually only get certain packs, which helps cut costs.
 
I've managed to hold it at $150-$170 a year. $100 for preleases, the rest is loose packs and shipping for online trading. I only focus on one deck at a time. But I might make a new deck in between tornaments.
 
Well I am trying to get back into it to, and it's going to cost more when you're just starting out, it will get less expensive the more expeirenced you get, simply because you have more cards at your disposal and you will be able to find a for sure deck that will work.
 
i probably spend more then 300 cause im always getting boxes
other than that i win the rest
 
oh, usually at pre releases cause they always have extra's for a cheap price, if not there amazon or some place in dallas that i go to
if u happen to know an organizer named jose eguia thats who i get them from
 
Hmm, A pre-release box, that would make alot of sense, I never thought of that! I think I will try that at the MD pre-release! Nice idea! No i dont know her, in fact I have only been to one, but the guy who organized the last one was nice as could be! I think he is doing the one this time, so we will talk!
 
yeah, to me it kindof saves a year of searching for good cards cause u can get most of them on that day, but yeah u should check with ur organizer, doesnt hurt to ask;)
so this will be ur 2nd pre-release

Yeah i agree, try buying boxes, the MD has some interesting pokes and various trainers for you to begin. try secret wonders too.

Well it should have been, My mom decided that Baseball practice and a Haircut before Graduation is more important :( So I will not be attending this one, but last night I did some more research and found a trusting site last night and found a MD box, with tax, for something like $88, is that a decent price to pay, also is MD a good enough set to buy a Box of? I didn't feel like this deserved a new thread and since the topic was the same, i decided on this thread. Anyway, what do you guys think?
