This thread will detail what every person must do and follow with each and every trade they do to get 100% the card that they want. Many deals have been made in the past where people have gotten Promo Lv.Xs instead of the real Lv.Xs that they thought they might get but here's the reason why they didn't get that set Lv.X. They never asked! So in this guide, this will detail all the ways you can ask to know if the card you're getting is for sure the one you want.
After seeing a card you want and making a rough deal in a PM or a thread, before you send off your address in a hurry, ask some of these questions:
1. Language
Always ask for the Language of a card. Since you won't be able to use Japanese cards anymore come this Season, it's imperative that you want the card in English (or whatever other language you want). Always ask, otherwise the person you're trading with may send you a Japanese card and say that they still sent the card that you wanted.
2. Set+Number+Level, RH, Quantity, Name
To make sure that you want a card from a specific set, always ask for the exact set of the card. If possible, ask for the number and even the Level of the card to make sure it's the one you want. This is important if they send you a Promo Lv.X and you didn't ask. Another factor is whether a card is RH or not. While it would be nice if the offerer would list whether a card was, it never hurts to ask. Quantity is also important if you're dealing with many copies of one card. Ensure that you're getting everything you want. Finally, the Name which is probably the most important. Don't forgot to skip over it and use the name in full, so as to not confuse someone with abbreviations. Don't assume that the person you're dealing with will know what you're talking about. When in doubt, always ask!
3. Care+Condition
Finally, this is the last (and arguably most important) thing to ask when dealing with cards. The care and condition. All too often, people don't ask if the card they're wanting to trade for is 100% mint. If you don't mind a few scratches, then you don't have to worry about how good of shape the card is in. But in the off-chance you do care about it, always ask. If possible, ask for photos of the cards you're trying to trade for to make absolutely positive the care and condition are up to your standards.
With these key things in mind, you should always be able to get the exact card you want and how you want it. Failure to use these guidelines may result in cards from different sets or different artwork that you didn't expect, but it might still be the same card. If some of these are already listed and implied (like possibly the Set) in a person's list, don't hesitate to ask again just in case. It is always the person's responsibility to ask these types of questions and will result in a more enjoyable and friendly trading experience here at PB.
Finally, here's a sample of a very effective trade deal:
My:
HGSS Double Colorless Energy 103/123 x2 - mint - english
PT Broken Time Space 105/127 x4 (2 RH) - mint - english
PT Cyrus 106/127 x4 - mint - english
Your:
LA Uxie Lvl. X 146/146 - mint - english - NOT championship reprint!
Note: Set, Name, Number, Quantity, RH or not, Condition, and finally making sure they are not reprints.
I'll leave this open for any comments/criticism you might have. You can post in here something you think needs to be added or changed or you can PM me.
