How to Tell if Early Booster Packs are Searched?

Im going to buy some jungle, base set 2 and fossil packs. Wanted any help to make sure they are good packs, any tips on what to look for? Thanks
 
Weighed packs are a huge problem, especially with these older sets. The best you can do is find someone with a good reputation / feedback score and cross your fingers. Read through their seller reviews (if available) and see if other collectors have commented on the legitimacy of the packs. If it's being sold through a dealer like Troll & Toad, while they don't weigh their packs themselves, people do sometimes sell them weighed packs (which they resell). I've had good luck and bad luck with businesses in this regard, so it's another "cross your fingers" thing.

General rule I take with old packs: if the listing feels dodgy, it probably is.

I don't have any seller recommendations myself, because I only buy Japanese cards of that era, but if JP cards also interest you, Brian at Pokevault is my go-to.
 
Again i should have included more, i am buying locally from a person that had an ad up, so i will be able to see the packs in person before buying which i didnt think would ever happen. His asking prices are - Jungle ($25) 1st Editions ($30) Fossil ($20) Base 2 ($20)

I would like to one day start buying off ebay but its really sad to think that it is rigged and ruins the fun you are paying so much for.
 
Those prices aren't too bad at all (in CAD). Maybe you could haggle him down a bit if you buy multiple packs.

It'll be impossible to know if they're weighed unless you weigh them yourself before buying them. :p It might be worth asking him where he got these packs from. Also it might be safer to buy a few packs first (Holos are typically 1 in 3 packs on average, so maybe buy 5-ish) and see what you get. I'd resist buying a ton of packs until I have checked a few. But if you trust this guy, then take the plunge.
 
Yea im gonna try to get that price low haha, well he doesnt live to far from me and he said hes had them since a kid and needs to fund a trip which is why hes selling. I was considering weighing them before buying, so far im buying 13 packs. He had 3 base set packs which is what i really wanted but they sold rihht away :(. So with those 1r packs he wants 320 dollars
 
I don't condone weighing in any form, and I meant my earlier suggestion ironically. :p I was just saying the only way to know if it's weighed is if you also weigh, unfortunately.
