Ruling Huntail and Gorebyss (Great Encounters)

So I found out that by discarding a Multi Energy (or other Rainbow-type Energy), you can get both effects of Houndoom's "Black Fire" attack.

Does that mean, in turn, that if I have a Multi/Scramble/Rainbow Energy on Huntail from Great Encounters, the effect of "Threaten and Drop" will happen, even if the other Energy is not a Water Energy? Likewise, would a Multi/Scramble/Rainbow Energy on Gorebyss trigger the effect of "Psychic Snap"?

By the way, these are what the attacks do:

THREATEN AND DROP (1 Water, 1 Colorless)
30 damage
If Huntail has any [Darkness] Energy attached to it, this attack does 30 damage plus 20 more damage and discard a Special Energy card, if any, attached to the Defending Pokémon.

PSYCHIC SNAP (1 Water, 1 Colorless)
30 damage
If Gorebyss has any [Psychic] Energy attached to it, this attack does 30 damage plus 20 more damage and the Defending Pokémon is now Confused.

Thanks. I might actually make a deck out of these guys then. After all, they're only Uncommon, and I'm not afraid of building a deck around Uncommon Pokémon. I've done it before.

Although it is super fast (same Basic + room for Quick Balls) and says hi to speed Magmortar variants, I doubt it will do anything much with the max damage being 50, even if you add Confusion it's not much. It also has kinda low HP. Then again, adding something else that attacks (Empoleon?) will slow you down tremendously. But I'd say it would be useful for the damage boost it would give.

Oh, I'm not too concerned with how it'll go against the metagame, since I rarely attend tournaments and my entire League is sick and tired of archetypes anyway. I went into the Pasadena Nationals using a deck with Swampert and Pelipper (both Great Encounters) and got 3 wins and 4 losses. Actually, I'm not too concerned with the outcome of the matches I play either.

I just need to make sure all my decks are legal in that they're up-to-date and that I'm not inadvertently breaking some secret rule. I don't even know what else I'd do with Huntail and Gorebyss anyway...maybe make a deck that's all Uncommon or Common, since I don't have easy access to rare cards or booster boxes.
