Hydreigon/Darkrai (Hydra in the Darkness)

NOTE: This Deck is based on the cards I've had available in my collection for now. There are some changes I do know I need to fix, I'll list them below! I've not looked at any of the decks most people have been running, honestly. I just recently got back into the TCG after a 2 year Hiatus. But now in College, I've wanted to return to my love of this game and so I looked at my available cards, got a few from some friends, and here is where I stand at the moment.

Pokemon x16
  • 4x Hydreigon (1 DE Consume, 2 DE Dark Trance, 1 NV)
  • 3x Zweilous DE (2 Draw In, 1 Crunch)
  • 4x Deino (3 DE, 1 NV)
  • 1x Darkrai EX
  • 1x Sabley DE (Junk Hunt)
  • 2x Emolga DE
  • 1x Celebi EX
Trainers/Supporters x28
  • x4 Pokemon Communication
  • 3x Energy tretrieval
  • 3x Pokemon Catcher
  • 2x Ultra Balls
  • 2x Level Ball
  • 2x Rare Candy
  • x1 Escape Rope
  • x1 Random Reciever
  • x1 Rescue Scarf
  • x3 Cheren
  • x2 Colress
  • x2 N
  • x2 Cilian
Energy x16
  • x8 Psychic
  • x8 Dark
Strategy
In this deck, Hydreigon is the main attacker which is why there are variations all due to situational things (I've not played competitively since my Mightyena deck and it ran great with this, this deck hasn't faltered too much with this but could risk being clunky). Basically, set up Hydreigons, mainly Dark Trance so you can keep moving energies to him with the hope that you've got dark energies laying around. Celebi can allow use of Zweilous' "Draw In" to get 2 Darks from the discard pile when they start piling up in there thanks to Dragonblast. Consume can heal at least 40 in a dire situation, and the other Hydreigon is Spread-igon to deal 40 to 2 benched and hope to gain an extra prize card. Darkrai helps retreat with these heavier Pokemon (3 energy retreat cost...). Emolga is obviously early game set up of Deino, Sabley can fetch out any one random item card. I have no Max Potions yet so there is only one Sabley (or Potions obviously). Basically, with this set up currently you should be dragonblasting for days in the right situation.

Apologies if anything here is messy (Besides the deck itself). Just a returning player, unsure about the current metagame and all that jazz~

Dark patch is obviously good in dark decks, and since u aint running any form of energy acceleration,
16 energy is too much if you're running energy acceleration, so
-3 Psychic energy
-3 Energy retreival (you dont want energy in your hand. You want it in your discard pile to dark patch)
+4 Dark patch (if 4 is overkill for you, 3 should be fine)
+1 Rare candy for consistency
+1/2 Dark claw
I don't think you should start with emolga, since you're running sableye, you can abuse and reuse level/ultra balls to get many of the pokemons you need.
-2 Emolga
+1 Darkrai EX (darkrai is very important in the deck)
+1 Sableye
4 Poke comms are too much with 16 pokemon, and you want ultra balls to discard your dark energy to dark patch. Level ball can be abused by sableye
-2 Poke comm
+1 Level ball
+1 Ultra ball
As i said, you dont want too much energy in your hand,
-2 Cilan
-3 Cheren (im not a big fan of cheren)
+3 Juniper (its a great supporter and it discards your energy you dont need)
+1 N (consistency)
+1 Colress (consistency)
You need super rod to get your pokemon back from discard pile
-1 Psychic energy
+1 Super rod
Change some of your psychic energy to blend GPFD to allow Darkrai's free retreat and powering Hydreigon's 140 attack at the same time.
-2/3/4 Psychic energy
+2/3/4 Blend GPFD (2/3/4 depends on how often do you see enhanced hammer/garchomp/cobalion EX in your area)

I don't believe you really need a Celebi ex because you don't need Zweilous or Deino's attacks, so you might want to take that out and add a Sableye.
Also, evolving takes too long, so -2 Zweilous and add two rare candies.

Hmm, with the Dark Patch this is true. I'll play around with and without Celebi and see which situation seems to work better in-game. But I got a hold of some of the cards I need so as of right now, this is the deck list. I'll look into purchasing another Darkrai EX soon though... he's DEFINITELY needed, and I probably won't remove the Emolga until I get that Darkrai.

Pokemon
  • 4x Hydreigon (1 DE Consume, 2 DE Dark Trance, 1 NV)

  • 1x Emolga DE
  • 1x Celebi EX
Trainers/Supporters
  • x4 Dark Patch
  • 3x Pokemon Catcher

  • 2x Pokemon Communication
  • 2x Level Ball
  • 2x Rare Candy
  • x1 Escape Rope
  • x1 Dark Claw
  • x1 Rescue Scarf
  • x3 Professor Juniper
  • x3 Colress

Energy
  • x4 Psychic
  • x8 Dark
  • 2 DCE
  • Prism Energy (To be Blend Energy later)

I'm making the same list below this thread on the forums. I would drop Emolga and Celebi cause they aren't really needed I think. Since Darkrai EX is really the main attacker I think you should go 3 Darkrai EX. I agree about the evolving thing. Getting Hydreigon Turn 2 is much better then Turn 3. Also I don't think it is necessary to have 4 Hydreigon. Maybe 2 Dark Trance and 1 other. I would -1 Colress +1 N and maybe - 1 Cilan and +1 N. Also if you upped the Darkrai EX, There probably wouldn't be any need for Escape Rope I would -1 Escape Rope +1 Catcher because Escape Rope your opponent gets to pick, Catcher you get to pick. Maybe -1 DCE +1 Dark Claw\Dark Energy. Another goal for this deck would be to attach every turn. You almost always need Max Potion in this deck. You can move all the Energy off a Darkrai EX, Heal Him, then move them back on. I'll let you choose what to take out for those.

If you need some cards I have select few I can either trade or give you, but only the ones I do not need. Example, you might want some Hypnotoxic lasers in your deck andi have some I can trade you for. I recommend making a trading thread.
