Hypothetical: Mega Pokemon Rule Change

I'd love to see a change to the rule on Mega Pokemon. The current rule states that when Mega Evolving your turn ends. I'd like to see the rule changed to closely resemble the Ace Spec rule. You can only carry 1 Mega card in your deck, in exchange for this limitation, Mega Evolving no longer ends your turn. This would bring the TCG mechanics closer in line with the mechanics of the VG.

Opinions?

It really doesn't, though. Even though you can only Mega Evolve once per battle, you are allowed to bring six Mega Stones into battle with you if you so choose.

You could alter the rule to say that you may only Mega Evolve once per game. That would bring it more in line with the video games.

At least it would make them playable. Right now, none of the megas are worth wasting a turn for. At least make a game breaking mega.

3rd place at worlds carried 2 M Kangaskhan in the masters division.

I'd say these choices would make Megas WORSE overall. Which they definitely do not need. Only being able to Mega once per game would make them that much easier to counter. As soon as one went down, you'd no longer have to worry about their main attacker ever again.

The Pokemon TCG has never aimed to come close to following the Video Game's mechanics. You can't damage non-active Pokemon in the games, for instance, whereas this has always been possible in the TCG.

I think that might help some of them; particularly those megas who's basics are good enough on their own (Charizard and Lucario). Lucario especially, because Somersault Kick might not always reach OHKO levels, but mega evolving could be just what you need to get the game winning extra 40.

Pokedan, you can easily set up a Lucario EX OHKO with a Korinna,Skyla, and a Computer search to get Strong energy, muscle band, and fighting stadium in easily 2-3 turns and a 4 turn if you want a mega Lucario

You could also run a sigilyph if you do run a Lucario to protect against EX cards when you mega evolve.

I like it better like this. I hardly ever need to Mega more than once a game because I only play max potion gimmicks with my Megas. Not having to end my turn there is too strong. And remember, PTCG is a game of skill, strategy, and a little luck. Finding the opportune time to Mega evolve is a nice thing that requires strategy.

I think a way to change the rule yet still have the "sprite" of the rule is to make it be this:
You can only Mega evolve Once per turn, and to end your turn you have to pass (you can not attack, or use cards that end your turn, like Tropical Beach). This way you can mega evolve and still play Trainers and normal pokemon like you usually do.

Even though I think this would make Megas more balanced, the system seems a little... messy. Like, just too unnecessarily complicated in TCPi's eyes.

I think the most-balanced way executing Megas into the TCG would be you can only Mega Evolve once per game. Of course, I think some of the Megas we have now are too powerful for this (Kangaskhan and Lucario), so straight up changing the rule would not be a good idea right now (most of the other Megas would be fine though). If only they could go back in time and change it, then it would be fine.

Plus if you were only able to carry one in your deck it may be prized and that would blow.
