DPPt/HGSS I can't get past picking my starter in Pokemon Diamond

I have a cartridge of pokemon diamond, and it won't load past picking the starter pokemon? Like, it lets me get up to being by the lake, getting attacked by the starly, picking the pokemon, but then when the screen goes from field to battle, it just goes completely black, and you can hear the battle music.
I think its fake, although there was a saved game on it when I got it since it was pre owned, so I was wondering if there's any chance to get it working? Thanks :)

RE: Pokemon diamond won't work

Did you erase the save file? Diamond doesn't let you save if there's already a save file on there and you start a new game. (If I recall, you hold down Up, Select, and B on the screen where it shows Dialga to do that. It takes about 60 seconds to erase the file.)

It's possible it could be fake, but first erase the save file and try it again, and see where you get.

RE: Pokemon diamond won't work

I found a bootleg copy of Emerald at a local game store once. Curious about it, my buddy who worked there at the time handed me a DS and the bootleg Emerald and I tried it out. It didn't even load past the "Nintendo" screen. He wrote it up as defective and threw it away.

Probably bootleg, I had a Pokemon Ruby like that I got off eBay a while back, it stops and glitch at littleroot town.

For a lot of bootlegs you can just...tell that it's a bootleg. Do you have pictures of the cartridge itself? Sometimes the bootleged cartridges are kinda deformed and fit into the DS weirdly. Where did you get it?
(btw, love your username)

Yeah, the bootleg of Emerald that I found at a local Gamestop was a black cartridge with the Emerald sticker on the front of it.

I've seen those. I've also seen LeafGreen ones. I remember a few kids from my elementary school had them a while back. (lol, a loong way back)

I found a Ruby like this. I do find it odd how none of it's on the radar.
