So, Iron Breaker...

It does 80 damage and THE DEFENDING Pokémon can't attack during your opponent's next turn.

So, in theory, if I'm up against, say, a Regigigas and use Iron Breaker, then it should be read "The Defending Regigigas can't attack during your opponent's next turn." Correct?

I'm asking because I was in a situation where my opponent used a Switch to bring Regi to his bench, then another Switch to bring Regi active. He thought he could attack, but I argued that Iron Breaker said that Regi couldn't attack during the turn. Period. My friend still thinks otherwise.

Any help clearing this up would be much appreciated.

Effects on a Pokemon disappear when they hit the bench. Iron Breaker is an effect on Regigigas, so when Regigigas hits the bench, the effect goes away. Similar effects include burn, poison, confuse, Garchomp LV X's "Dragon Rush attack", Agility-type attacks, and smokescreen-type attacks. Hope this helps. :)

Zero's correct - when a Pokemon heads to the bench or evolves, any Special Conditions or effects on that Pokemon vanish.

If you need help with any other rulings in the future, feel free to stop by the Card Rulings forum; the Professors would be glad to assist you with your future questions!
