So I understand that a Pokemon will get its ability from the mother Pokemon, so does this mean that if I breed a female Cherubi with Chlorophyll with a Male Bulbasaur, I have a chance of getting a Bulbasaur with Chlorophyll?

I have been breeding since finishing the story line but egg group breeding isnt one of my strong points.

Thanks.

RE: Question about breeding for abilities

...no, you only have a chance of getting a Cherubi with Chlorophyll. The egg's species is the mother (or non-Ditto) species, save for weird exceptions like Undiscovered and Manaphy.

Also, on top of that, Chlorophyll is Cherubi's normal ability, but Bulbasaur's hidden ability. To breed for a Bulbasaur with Chlorophyll, you'd need to breed with a female Bulbasaur also with Chlorophyll...which doesn't exist.

Do not let the same names throw you off. What matters if the ability is the hidden one or not. e.g. to get a Poliwag with Swift Swim, the female parent Poli needs to also have the Swift Swim ability (or, in Politoed's case, Drizzle) to pass it on. Whether or not the father has Swift Swim is irrelevant.

I'd also like to add to this, that in order to get a hidden ability, you cannot breed with Ditto. So even if you had a female Bulbasaur with Chlorophyll, if you breed it with a Ditto, you cannot get another Bulbasaur with Chlorophyll, you'd need a male Pokemon of the same egg group. But yeah, since female Bulbasaur with Chlorophyll don't exist yet, you can't breed a Bulbasaur with Chlorophyll.

So there is no possible way to bread a bulbasaur with chlorophyl if both parents have overgrown? Or is there a chance?
