Should There Be A New Pokemon Trading Card Game For The Wii/DS?

First of all, yes, I'm 23 and still play the card game. I've been playing since 1998 (when the TCG was released) and I've almost become sentimentally attached to the game. I'm also exceptionally good, so it doesn't make it any easier to quit.

There is a problem though: I can't afford all the new cards! I get frustrated when Nintendo releases a new Pokemon game for the DS, but refuses to revitalize the Pokemon Trading Card Game! I just played it the other day with my friend and we were having a good time, but lost interest pretty quick because we were playing with cards from the original sets.

The game has evolved so much since then and I believe Nintendo would be doing its fans a big favor by releasing a new Pokemon Trading Card Game. Chances are, for the thousands who buy the DS versions of the game, at least half of them or more probably play the card game. It's a no-brainer that a new Pokemon Trading Card Game would sell, especially on the Wii. DLC would include newly released sets and online gameplay would allow players to play against each other with the decks they've always wanted to play but couldn't afford to put together in real life. I'd buy a Wii just for that game.

What do you think? Should Nintendo release a new Pokemon Trading Card Game for the Wii or even the new DS?

Well, nintendo could and they should but doing this will make them lose profits. Think of it this way, now that you can access cards that easily, then why not have the TCG Worlds be using the Wii game as a medium? No stacking, no cheating it's more fair that way. In the end, Nintendo just likes to make money. That is why this dream of ours shall remain a dream.

Cheats, hacks.
Of course, you can make fake cards, but the opponent notices, even though the other person on the other side will also notice, they will quit and then cheat. They fight another person and the other person quits ect ect...
The whole system is extremely unstaible. I think the only reason why they got away with it in the GBC version is because of no online play and little knowledge of cheat devices

Great on paper, but they rely on the TCG for profit, as RB said. All sets and cards in one 35 dollar game? They aren't going to do this, unfortunately, ever.

dmaster out.

I doubt they would do every single card ever in the game. If you've played the Yugioh games then you'll know that they've never done every card.

I'd love one, but as many have said, it would take away from the actual card games profits. However, if they could make downloadable updates for like $5 each time a new set came out, they could still make money, albeit not as much.

Simple. They stick a code on each separate card, so when you enter in the code, the DS looks up the card (online) and puts it in the database. That way, not only do you get cards to play physically, you can use them to play against others via wi-fi.

That's an awesome idea Zyflair! Since I am not able to go to a league that would be an awesome way to test my decks!

which is cool, unless you don't have wireless internetz, and you could pass on codes with friends.

a better option would be to make them availble for download on the wii/dsi shop channel.
them referring to every new set coming out

I really want a Pokémon TCG DS.
Pokémon TCG GB (or whatever it's called) was easily one of my favorite games back in the day, and getting a similar game with the new cards would be like a dream come true. <3

EDIT:
Also, it wouldn't "steal" profits from the actual TCG. -.-
You can't play in tournaments like City Championships, Pre-releases or Battle Roads with a DS game. I'm quite sure the actual TCG would remain unaffected (economically, at least).

You shouldn't need to have the cards IRL to play with them on the DS-game. You should be able to get the cards in-game, like with the old Pokémon TCG-game.
Maybe they could add a feature of buying booster packs and decks as well, and you'd get money for winning battles instead of cards. : D

...I'd love that, at least.

thats what we ment, only if a new set comes out, it can't be programmed into the games, thus it is an update :D

A new TCG game is like the ultimate in two-timing. The TCG has a good steady profit. This is like sinking your own ship. They won't make a new TCG game. Ever.

Oh really? If you've ever played the Yu-Gi-Oh! video games(yeah I went there for a while sorry guys =P), they don't have every card and they don't update, and often they don't have the newest sets, but they can be good fun!

So I don't think it'd ruin the physical card game at all! Redshark hasn't changed a thing about the number of players.

I would like to see a new pokemon tcg game for Wii or DS come out as well. It is an easy way to see how your deck sets up in the beginning. The late game part would not be as reliable because of the limitations that AI has. It can be done at any time in the convenience of your home.

Why not make it like a RPG game, along with a wifi mode with modes like these:
1: A mode where you download the newest sets and make the best deck you can think of and battle random people
2: curreent online tourneys
3: etc.

Like pokemaniac said, Yugioh has games, but it doesn't effect the real TCG itself. They even have the card codes that Zyflair talked about. (I liked Yugioh)

I loved the original game. I think this would make a great DSi exclusive game. You could go onto the DSi Shop and buy new sets for your game. Not cards themselves, but more like updates. You could store decks onto the SD card, even, and put them on your Wii. (It has SD, doesn't it?) I've been thinking of this for a year or two, now, and think it would be awesome for everyone who can't make it to POP, and don't know how/want to use Redshark.

I don't know if someone said this, anyway, if they make a Wii/DSi Pokemon TCG game, then, Pokemon is broken at the next day.
