I Want A New "Pokemon Trading Card" Game For The Wii!

Should There Be A New Pokemon Trading Card Game For The Wii/DS?

To be honest, I think a DS TCG game would work much better than a Wii one. The portable format would be much better for allowing random TCG fans who meet, say, in a mall or a train station, to just whip out their DSes and play each other. Perhaps they could do a "cross-promotion" with the real TCG - they could include a real card with the game, and booster packs of real cards could have "code cards" to add new cards to the DS game.

maybe nintendo is already busy with it.

see at the bottom, ©2009 pokemon/nintendo, if they put a serial number above/under the, you could enter it and get the cards for use in your DS/Wii

This is really a dream that if came true will be a mark in the history of the video-gaming industry ..
If only enough number of fans voices reaches Nintendo ...
Here's one thing i am doing:
- I am sending an email to Nintendo power magazine , this email ( [email protected] ) is specifically to send your dream/idea for a game to be realized and it can be published in the magazine and chances of being heard is better .
- I am sending emails regularly to nintendo asking for the game to be made that simple.
I really hope this gets realized one day .. just thinking of playing with hundreds of people around the globe with so many decks makes my hair stand in excitement !!
Lets hope for the best!

This is a super old thread, but I guess I'll leave it open for discussion.

the thread might be old but the idea is definitely something i think about frequently , and i am sure thousands of fans are thinking the same thought: Pokemon on the DS/Wii is looooong overdue !!

Simple. They stick a code on each separate card, so when you enter in the code, the DS looks up the card (online) and puts it in the database. That way, not only do you get cards to play physically, you can use them to play against others via wi-fi.

THAT, would take a while. and they have to make each card have a different code. We would have to wait a while and they would have to update all the old sets(Well, the ones in format) so you can use your deck instead of having to create a whole new deck because most of your deck or some important cards aren't in the game.

I'd love one, but as many have said, it would take away from the actual card games profits. However, if they could make downloadable updates for like $5 each time a new set came out, they could still make money, albeit not as much.

That would decrease profits A LOT. $5 is the largest amout for a Booster pack, from what I've seen, and paying that amount for a WHOLE SET?!?!? That would mean no more league basically.

And who would want to miss out on meeting new people and manually playing the game?(Sometimes I should but still. XD)

The whole serial code thing would be pointless. This is because it would be one of two ways:

Each card has it's own serial code that becomes void after used once. Pretty much no one builds a good deck off of cards only they bought. People trade, and buy from others.

Or

Each card has a # that can be used any time. In this case, there will be a site with all the codes within days and it will ruin the purpose.

I don't think they will make one since it would decrease profits, but if so, i'd want a story mode (Where you get packs in the game like in the original) and a duel mode. (Where you make the list. All sets and cards are downloadable)

It would be cool to get this game, but mainly on DS. A Wii version would be too, ugh, I don't know how to explain it, but too hard to play on a TV screen, but easily done with the DS screens. But the touchscreen would make it easy to transfer energies, chose attacks and whatnot. But it would be hard to start adding codes to cards. Like Yu-Gi-Oh! did a good job with this with their earlier games, but since it this late into these TCG game, it would be hard to get the codes for the cards and getting the old cards into the game using codes.

There's nothing better than actually holding the cards, facing your opponent. Actually being THERE to play the TCG. You don't have to be rich to play it. Just about $50 every 3 months and you'll be fine. couple pre release, POP promos, and you're on your way!

Now Collecting is for rich people..lol

True but unrealistic for many people for different reasons.
- Some people, myself included, simply have no one/no where to play the game in person! i moved to a rural area for work purposes, and now the nearest place to play for me is 3 hours driving away! would you be satisfied with playing once a month?
- 50$ every 3 months? hmm... depending on how lucky you are, you might/not get the cards you want..
- Even with a place/people to play with, not everyone has the time to do that.. think about it .. a game on the go on your DS anytime day or night whenever it is convenient to you, or having to go somewhere at a certain time limiting how many games you want to play when you want to play?

Let's face it , the game is addicting, and we simply need the game to be on the DS, so keep sending NIntendo those emails !!

You don't HAVE to play the TCG with others, even though a lot of people prefer to. If you really want to play with others, teach someone you know how to play. Or get Redshark if you really want convenience and to play with others.

Most people know that going into the game, and if not, they figure it out quickly.

Who would you play? The DS would have to update the rules as the format changes, and always having convenience is what makes us lazy. Eventually most of us will say "I'll play later" or "I bet no one is online, I'll do it later" and they forget to do it, and when they forget, they start to neglect it.

Let's face it , the game is addicting, and we simply need the game to be on the DS, so keep sending NIntendo those emails !!

Why do we need it on the DS? Also, what if you dont have wifi? Then the game is pretty much useless. I see your points though, and they are good ones. Im not trying to make you feel like your thoughts are wrong and mine are right or anything.

Thing is, it would also have a story mode so you could play that.
Then it could have a solitaire mode, just like redshark.

They even already did this on the computer (the japanese battle decks IIRC). So the only thing keeping this from DS is probably the storymode.

What do you mean by (You don't HAVE to play the TCG with others)?

I don't think it would hurt profits in the slightest. You're crazy to think that.

  • Collectors aren't going to have this. They're going to buy and collect real cards, not digital ones. Period.
  • All the little kids are still going to be in the checkout line at Wal-Mart tugging on their mom's shirt, begging for a pack of cards. We've all been there...
  • The competitive players, like myself, are still going to be playing in the OP tourneys. There's just nothing like it. I'd love a new video game version of the TCG, but I'm not going to quit OP if it comes out. That's like saying professional sports players would quit to play sports games. lol

The only way this group would quit is if they made OP for the TCG video game and new sets/cards were cheaper. But that just wouldn't make sense, would it?

It's just not going to hurt profits. No one will quit playing competitively, the collectors want real cards, and the little kids just want EVERYTHING Pokemon they can get their hands on. I can only see this making them more profits or completely flopping in the end.

It should definitely be a DS game, though. No question. If they make a DS and Wii version, cool. I liked the idea about saving decks to the SD card and using them on the Wii. However, being a Wii exclusive would just be stupid. Portability is a must.
