illegal cards?

Hey i am just getting back into pokemon tcg and wondering, if i were to battle are my cards from EX series and Diamond and Pearl series illegal or do i need newer cards?? i am buying newer packs but for now i only have my deck made from cards mainly coming out of the EX series packs.
 
Yup, here's the full list of legal sets:

Diamond and Pearl
Mysterious Treasures
Secret Wonders
Great Encounters
Majestic Dawn
Legends awakened
Stormfront
Platinum
Rising Rivals
Supreme victors
Arceus
Heart Gold/Soul Silver

also
this is a noob question but its bothering me

can poke powers and poke bodys be used while they are on the bench

i'm pretty sure i remeber poke bodys being able to but idk about poke powers

and one more thing do people play double battle or single in TCG??
 
Yeah, powers and bodies are used on the bench as well.

And I've never seen a double. All Organized play is single battling!

oh tehe, sorry you're talking to a mega nub right now i havn't played in like 2 yrs XD

me and my friends used to do double because it was really fun lol.
im pumped to buy a box or 2 soon! im recording my new collecting to try and make it a youtube series only 3 vids so far tho haha. no Level X pulls =[
 
Well, it's okay. I just got back into the game a few months ago. I'd say I'm intermediate now. lol

However, a new cut-off is coming, so if you are to buy a box, I would make it Platinum or after.
 
I don't like the word illegal, just not "tournament legal". You can still play unlimited decks, just not in tournaments. That is a VERY important distinction.
 
About the Poké-Powers...some ones have to be active to be used, such as Yanmega SV's Speed Boost or Toxicroak G Promo's Leep Away, but it's printed on the card if you can or not.
